Hi Everyone! I know this is a bit early but I will be applying to SMU for the ABSN program of Summer 2014 (Oakland Campus). I am currently finishing my Bachelor's degree in health science at CSUEB right now and I will be done in the fall. I just wanted to start a discussion on this topic and get to know some people who are applying to the program for summer 2014. Let's get to know each other, share our stats, etc.
Here are my estimated stats that they look at:
Last 60 units GPA: 3.5
Pre req GPA: 3.4
Teas: 83 but I am re taking it in a couple of weeks
Experience: I am a CNA and Med tech currently. I volunteer at John Muir hospital and at American Red Cross.
I hope to hear from some prospective applicants soon!

Hey gang, I am late on this thread as I kinda ruled SMU out after submitting my application and getting accepted into 2 other nursing programs at (BSN) South University in Virginia Beach, VA and (ABSN) Roseman University of Health Sciences. However Samuel Merritt University San Mateo was my number one pick out of all schools that I have applied to. I got an acceptance email on the morning of JAN 23rd for APR Cohort. I am relocating from the east coast and working out the logistics now. I love the bay area and am stoked about getting in this program. Good Luck to everyone thats still waiting. I know its a killer!
I forgot to mention that I initially had only received an email from SMU assigning me a student id and password for mysmu. I thought this was odd but suspected that this meant I had gotten accepted. I contacted an admissions counselor who verified my acceptance status and stated that I should have received an acceptance email as well. She also mentioned their systems do not work well with GMAIL (which I have and since updated to a new provider). So it is possible if anyone is using GMAIL that you did not get a letter when you should have. Guess it does not hurt to call and ask!
Hang in there. I was waitlisted last cohort because the competition was severe. I had to retake the TEAS and got some patient care exp under my belt and made it! The timing could not be better as my current job has flexibility.
How does HH on March 27 sound? That will be approx one month out... our last bit of freedom before we become completely absorbed with everything nursing school.
