So, who applied?

Hi all, I got my acceptance call this AM from Anne for SMU Oakland for Summer 2011!!!!! So excited!! Start date is May 31, 2011. Anne says they will be sending out an email to me on Monday with details... she says that the signed letter of intent and deposit are due Feb. 25. I wish everyone the best of luck too and hope you get your call too. Now I need to set up major childcare for my 3 and 5 year olds!!! Yikes.

So cool that you met my friend! Funny. She finished SMU San Mateo in December and just passed her RN exam. She rocks! She is my inspiration for this program! What program are you in now and where? Maybe we should talk about how to do school with 2 kids!! :)

My understanding is that there may not be enough qualified applicants who have finished the prereqs on time. I hope this means that if you are qualified and done with prereqs that you will be accepted. Not sure though. I asked if people who apply now can bump someone out of being accepted if they applied in september, but it doesn't sound like that is the case. My impression is that they will accept a portion of the total number of spots while they wait to see if there are other applicants who are qualified and have completed the prereqs. I'm not positive about that though. The person I spoke with said that Oakland notification will start today and they anticipate getting the san Francisco acceptance list from the faculty early next week. I didn't hear anything regarding san Mateo campus though. I hope this info is helpful.

I did finish my prereqs in December and was qualified, but my friend is still finishing her last prereq (patho) at SMU and she got an acceptance call today too. Not sure what this means in terms of overall acceptance... I'm sure they haven't made all their calls yet and will be doing so over the next 20 days until March 1.

Congratulations brendalwelsh on your acceptance!! Very exciting. Which campus was your friend accepted to? Oakland or san Francisco? Has anyone heard if there have been phone calls regarding other campuses or just oakland?

My friend was also Oakland... not sure about the other campuses. I hope you get in!

If you're finishing prereqs such as Patho and Pharm with SMU, they will accept you...

here's what the website says:

for san francisco, all prerequisites, including the teas, must be complete now. for oakland and san mateo, the teas must be taken and the score must be available when you submit your application and all other prerequisites must be completed by may 27, 2011. please check with an admission counselor about the required prerequisites before submitting an application.

So now the question is when will we know if we didn't make it in? Since they are now accepting more applications should we assume that if meet the requirements that we will make it into the campus of our choice? I am trying to decide if I should save my money and not reapply to the fall SF start just in case.

Great question kt21. And I definitely hope that if we meet the requirements that we will be accepted. My grades and teas are excellent, and prereqs have been done since late summer. I'll be pretty disappointed if I don't get in when it sounds like they're struggling to fill the classes. The person I spoke with last week said to hold off on doing another application for the November start date until we know if we're accepted which should be early next week. She also said that if we are waitlisted there may be a possibility of carrying our current app forward. Basically she said don't worry about reapplying quite yet
