**Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2011**

Published

So, who applied?

I am a bit confused about that e-mail we got about reapplying for spring. Is SMU not using nursingcas for the ABSN program again?

Hi! I applied to the San Francisco campus and am dying to hear back. Thebread, I didn't get the email about reapplying, would you mind filling me in on what it said? Thanks!

This email does not mean that you have not been accepted in the Summer cohort. Those decisions have not been made. This email is solely for informational purposes.

I have received a lot of questions about what to do if planning to reapply for the March 1 ABSN application deadline for the San Francisco Campus. Remember, ALL of your prerequisites must be completed by the end of Spring 2011. The ONLY exception is if you take a class (anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, or pathophysiology) at Samuel Merritt for the summer 2011 term (that application will not be posted until around mid-February or March and you will need to check our website for it: http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/smu_events ).

Instructions:

1. Print and complete the paper application at the following link: http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/files/admission/smu_undergrad_appl_absn_web.pdf

2. Mark ONLY that you want the Fall San Francisco Campus

3. Resend all official/unofficial transcripts with the application

4. Resend all letters of recommendation with the application (we will accept no more than 2)

5. Complete the 3 writing samples required in the application

6. Send in a copy of your resume with the application

7. Be sure to account for every prerequisite course required on the prerequisite worksheet, if not your file will be marked incomplete

8. Mail in your application packet with your $50 application fee by March 1 to 3100 Telegraph

I was also confused about it......

honestly the information passed on by SMU is not super clear

Thanks for the information. I just talked to someone at the school and she said they are done with Nursingcas because the website didn't work as well as they thought it would. So yes, if we reapply we have to print out and do the paper application. I hope that doesn't mean they have to receive all of our transcripts by March 1st. I wish we could find out about Summer before we have to go through all of that work!

wow, really?

I hope they can keep the recommendations that they have on file, cause I would hate to ask for them again, looks very unprofessional no?

That isn't good news for me either. I had planned on applying by now to SMU, but needed to postpone until the spring '12 class which I think have applications due in July. But my application is already in progress with NursingCAS and my references are on file. I would hate to have to go back and ask for those references again. Not impressed with SMU right now.

I couldn't agree more about the letters of recommendation. It's hard enough to ask for them once! I am guessing we will have to get them again, but I haven't asked.

Hi Everyone!

I am so happy there are threads like this. I have been going through the turmoil of waiting acceptance by myself at work! I feel like I'm obsessed but the wait is killing me. I just recently talked to the Director of Admissions and she said that all of the files are prepared and they have been sent to the different campuses (this is as of 2 Fridays ago). She said once the campuses get them the decisions will be made from there and she's hoping it'll be by the March deadline. I was wondering if the files they have all organized as of right now are all the applicants or just ones they are considering...like if there has been any preliminary rejections or not?

Is anyone applying for FAFSA? Have you done so yet? The deadline is March 2 but I wasn't sure if I should apply without knowing whether or not I'm attending school? Or does it not matter?

Thanks in advance for any feedback. Good luck to everyone!!!!!!

Hi all. I"ve applied also and getting pretty anxious myself! I"m 52, male, healthcare sales rep. I've been a CNA for 7 years and still work on weekends at local EBay hospitals for the experience and to keep myself focused on the goal.

I took Patho last fall at Moorpark College and my study buddy got accepted into the January 2011 Cohort for San Mateo. I talked to him last week and they were just finishing the first semester.

Does anyone know if SMU will be simply sending out letters to everyone or if they will call or email those that are accepted or high on the waiting list?

I heard they call first.

do you guys think we will have time to continue to volunteer if we get into SMU?

I think the 4 hours wont be that big of a deal, although scheduling might be.

I heard they call also, but I was wondering since they have 144 or so seats to fill for the Summer 2011 Cohort, that's a lot of phone calls!!!!

Here is a link on their website for the San Mateo Spring 2011 Chort academic schedule:

http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/files/20112012_absn_san_mateo__january_cohort.pdf

I believe each "unit" or semester is broken into 5 week courses. Here's another link on their site to the actual curriculum:

http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/nursing/abs_nursing/curriculum

I've heard between classes, studying, and clinicals there isn't much time left.

I hope I get all my transcripts back by the 3/1 deadline in case I need to re-apply for the November SF Cohort! I was a little apprehensive about approaching my references to ask them to write another letter of reference, but they were quite nice about it actually!
