**Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2011**

So, who applied?

I have emailed her and asked a few different questions, but never seem to get an exact answer....They also "lost" my transcript, but found it a month later. The lack of organization makes me nervous

I can relate to that. They apparently never received (or lost) my TEAS, but fortunately it was easy for ATI to resend. I guess I can only imagine they they have a lot of applications and pieces. But still....

Ah, I hope we hear soon, so we can plan one way or the other. I think I heard end of June from one person.

Boojum I sent my app out for spring 2012 San Mateo campus only as sac is too far from me. ReAlly hoping to get in I've applied to other schools b4 but only been waitlisted...anyone have a clue when we r supposed to find out if we get in? I'm gonna b anxiously waiting for months I think!

I applied for Fall 2011 also but I'm one of the later applicants...Hopefully we'll hear good news soon!

just FYI, I started a SMU Fall ABSN thread here. Please chime in! :D

Hey guys, congrats on getting in or applying! I'm already a student of smu!

hey guys...some of you are close to completing the absn program with SMU...can you guys give some details on what the clinicals were like? location, hours, etc...the more detail the more appreciated! thank you!

We actually finished a month ago. Clinicals are a total of 120 hours each class and we either had 2 days a week of 12 hr shifts or 3 days a week of 8 hour shifts. Most of mine were Sat/ Sun 12 hours (7a-7p), but that's because of where I chose to go. None of the clinicals are night shift- although when you get to the end and do your preceptorship, many people get night shift assignments for that (I didn't). We had the option of applying to be in a cohort- those people did most of their clinicals all at the same hospital. The cohorts were either at Kaiser SF or CMPC Davies. I personally chose not to do that, so each time we started a new class, I got to select from the options of hospitals for that rotation. That doesn't mean you get the ones you select, but you at least get a say in what you'd prefer and then can write a little something if you have a special circumstance.

My clinicals were at the following hospitals:

-Med/Surg- 10 weeks at St. Luke's in SF (you stay at the same place for both MCA I and II)

-Critical Care (MCA III)- 5 weeks at SFGH step down unit

-Maternity- 5 weeks at CPMC California campus

-Pediatrics- 5 weeks at UCSF

-Community Health- 10 weeks (1 day per week) at Raphael House

-Mental Health- 10 weeks (1 day per week) at SFGH inpatient psych

-Preceptorship- 120 hours in L&D at LPCH (Stanford)

Hope this helps- let me know if you have any questions!
