I noticed threads for other Samuel Merritt campuses and semesters but not the ABSN program that starts January 2010 in San Mateo. I was a little discouraged to read all of the frustrations of the San Francisco campus for fall. San Mateo is my #1 choice and it was only between that and Sac for winter semester. I'm wondering if there is anyone else who applied for 2010 in either campus. From what I gathered from other posts it takes about 3-4 months to get a reply? Its gonna be a looong wait! Who's waiting with me?
Are you sure they have already accepted 14 people at Sac? I know someone was told that, but what I didn't understand was 14 people being considered "early admissions" and the rest being told the week after... what's the point of early admissions if everyone else is told a week later? I'm willing to bet not all 14 have been notified yet, or maybe even selected..
elle- che and Liza are from two different campuses so that's why they are giving out different information. I believe the Sacramento campus is a little ahead of the San Mateo one in notifying people. And you're right, they may not have called 14 people already, as far as we know from postings two people have said they got "early acceptance", but then again not everyone knows about this site. San Mateo seems to be taking their sweet time on notifying you guys, which just makes it that much more frustrating. Hope you guys hear something soon. I applied to ABSN from Sac so as soon as I hear anything I'll post it just so you guys know.
What qualifies a person for early admission? Is that person like the cream of the crop? The best grades, letters, essays, and resume? Why can't they just find out the same time as the rest of the people?
I think they put all of our applications in one of those air-blower money grab machines and one of the administrators stands in there and grabs the winners at random personally
I don't get the early admittance thing either. Everyone should just find out at the same time. After the Sac ELMSN interviews there were a couple of people that were interviewed who got the call that they got accepted the next day. I still don't know how those people stood out to the interviewers from the rest of the group??? It's got to be that they had the best GPA, LOR, TEAS scores and personal essays, but who knows.
So I guess it's begun.. I got the call around 3:15 today from a 510 phone number that I was accepted to San Mateo!!! I was so shocked I forgot all the questions I've been asking all week, and screamed and started speeding once I hung up the phone. I don't know if this was early or regular admissions... Did anyone else get a call today? I hope to see you all in January, I feel like we've been going through this madness together for so freakin long! It's so scary and exciting! Good luck all!
I haven't posted yet, but I've been reading all your replies and I thought it was time to chip in. I got my acceptance call today as well, at 2:50, but I didn't answer and I got a message. Yay! It's such a relief to get in, I was one of the rejectees from the November San Francisco cohort, so now I feel like my life and my plans are back on track. I'm really excited to meet you all!
I got a call at around 2:30 this afternoon from Samuel Merritt saying I was accepted to the San Mateo ABSN program. WOOT! Congrats to Elle and Ali and anyone else who just got the call. I guess I will see you all in January.
