  1. hello, I applied as well. I'm a little confused about the letter of intent as there are no instructions as there usually are on a versant program listing. Usually they ask why you want to be a nurse and what you will be doing in 5 years. Does anyone know anything specific about St. Helena?
  2. Does anyone know what the actual start date is?
  3. Melody, Congrats, I'm so happy for you!
  4. (( I have no idea why they picked who they did, but as you can see from those who didn't get into SF, and then got admitted to SM i dont think it has anything to do with your qualifications. I really think they are trying to fill some kind of formula (so many males/females/older students/students with xyz experience etc) I seriously think the reason I was picked was because I am hispanic and speak conversational spanish. Based on their demographics and that scholarship they offered i think this is underrepresented at SMU. Also i had a really awesome, impressive, person (Doctor) write me a letter of rec, and I think my essays were pretty good. I worked with high school kids on writing personal statements a while back as a job, so i think i'm okay at this. My stats were about 3.4 on last 90 quarter units, science probably 3.6-3.75, NET score 88. I have 4 years of experience working in public health with injection drug users and 3 years working with abused children and seasonal work as an admin in a doctors office. Not exactly health care work, but I tied it all together in my essays. If there were 100 spots and 177 applicants i'd think this made me a shoe-in, but considering how insanely qualified all of the applicants probably are, I really think it was the latino/spanish thing that tipped the scales. Dave, the next cohorts start in april, may and june at sf/oakland/and san mateo. I'm sorry to hear they didn't offer you a spot this time, but if you are waitlisted that still means they want you! I'm sure if you don't get a spot this time you will for the next term! It's so incredibly frustrating to see so many enthusiastic/over qualified people practically fighting to go to school... school is a good thing! (I blame Bush) just kidding
  5. Hi Spidey congratulations! Did any of you happen to ask how many people would be in the program?
  6. Awesome! I can't wait to see you all in class!
  7. Hey everybody, So I guess it's begun.. I got the call around 3:15 today from a 510 phone number that I was accepted to San Mateo!!! I was so shocked I forgot all the questions I've been asking all week, and screamed and started speeding once I hung up the phone. I don't know if this was early or regular admissions... Did anyone else get a call today? I hope to see you all in January, I feel like we've been going through this madness together for so freakin long! It's so scary and exciting! Good luck all!
  8. I think they put all of our applications in one of those air-blower money grab machines and one of the administrators stands in there and grabs the winners at random personally
  9. Melody, Are you sure they have already accepted 14 people at Sac? I know someone was told that, but what I didn't understand was 14 people being considered "early admissions" and the rest being told the week after... what's the point of early admissions if everyone else is told a week later? I'm willing to bet not all 14 have been notified yet, or maybe even selected..
  10. Hi Dave, Thanks for the update, it sounds like che and liza have conflicting information. Maybe she was speaking of the Sacramento campus in the other email? This is the only nursing school i applied to, mostly because I invested so much time in all the prereqs, but I wouldn't be devastated if I can just forward my application to the next semester in SF or Oakland. I told myself if I don't get in I'm going to take a trip to Maui next year! San Mateo would be much better due to my location and the timing though. I hope one of us hears soon, I'm excited for all of us even if it's not me!
  11. Anyone hear anything yet? I'm a wreck everytime I check the mail. I would think if they were notifying people at San Mateo at least one of us would know by now. Are they lagging?
  12. I wouldn't expect SMU to be that timely about notifying everybody, assuming no one from San Mateo has found out yet. I'm hoping they are notifying Sac. students first and thats why none of us has heard. Given the pricey tuition the first 5-10 people on the wait list probably have a really good shot. Who knows if everyone will even be able to pay! It could take a while before everyone is notified. I noticed there has been 2-6 people reading this and the Sac. threads all weekend everytime I checked them (which I checked nonstop btw) i'll have my fingers crossed for all of us this week! Good Luck guys!
  13. Wow, thanks for posting this. here i thought it was the end of september! how stressful...
  14. Haha! I could have written all of your posts. I think this school gets a kick out of torturing people! I responded to the sender with a million questions trying to find out what conditionally accepted meant. Hopefully it means that they will be letting us know soon. For those of you who filled out the FAFSA, when they ask what level of college you are applying for did you put graduate/professional or undergrad? there really isnt an ABSN option.. :/
  15. Congratulations on the ELMSN acceptance, by the way!
