Hi all,
I noticed threads for other Samuel Merritt campuses and semesters but not the ABSN program that starts January 2010 in San Mateo. I was a little discouraged to read all of the frustrations of the San Francisco campus for fall. San Mateo is my #1 choice and it was only between that and Sac for winter semester. I'm wondering if there is anyone else who applied for 2010 in either campus. From what I gathered from other posts it takes about 3-4 months to get a reply? Its gonna be a looong wait! Who's waiting with me?
Do you think it will be very impacted?
With Regards..

I too applied to both campuses for January 2010. San Mateo is also my first choice. I haven't gotten an email saying they received my application yet though... I wonder how many applications they received...
oh good i dont feel so alone now! I called the admissions office about a week after the deadline and the woman I talked to made it sound like we would not get a confirmation postcard or email, she was able to check the computer for my application. i also noticed my check cleared about a week later. She also said that the july 1st deadline was not really that strict and people could apply later. Let me know if you hear anything, and hopefully I will see you in class january!

Hey! I applied to San Mateo 2010 as my first choice as well. I just talked to an admissions rep yesterday and she said we won't hear amything for 2-3 months ... I'm a little worried that there are more applicants than usual though, which will definitely hurt our chances of admission. Let's keep eachother updated on what we hear! This is going to be a long couple of months... Take care!

I applied for Sac Jan 10. It's my first application. I've heard also that they've had a huge increase in the # of applicatants. I'm an older student with no health care experience and my undergrad GPA was only a 3.0. I've got a 4.0 in all my pre-reqs and a 89 on the NET. I still have a few pre-reqs to finish hopefully that won't hurt me. Where is everyone taking path and pharm? I'm registered at Santa Barbara city college for pharm but can't get into a patho class. Any ideas? Good luck to everyone out there can't wait to hear!!

Hi Everyone,
I forwarded on my application from Fall '09 in SF to San Mateo, since I didn't get in to SF. I'm hoping there are fewer applicants for the San Mateo cohort, but don't want to keep my hopes up because I understand that there were 40+ people on the waitlist for SF! From what I've heard/read, applications are up more than 50% at other private schools in addition to SMU, and may be for awhile due to the economy. Did anyone else here forward on their application from November? I'm curious to know how many people are applying for the 2nd time around versus new applications.
For all of you who are new to the process, I sent in my application for the November cohort March 30, received an email in late May that my application had been received, and an official email in early June that all qualified applications were under review by the SF faculty. Hopefully this should help give an idea of the timeline. However, there are 5 months between the San Mateo application deadline and class start v. applying for fall SF, so I'm hoping that everything moves along more quickly this time around.
Good luck to you all!

I took Patho & Pharm at SBCC - are you at least on a waitlist for Patho? I had no trouble getting in to Patho (took it Spring '09). Otherwise, SMU does offer it online for a somewhat hefty price. Hope this helps!
Who did you take at SBCC I'm trying to get into contact with one of the profs to see if they will add me and the two posted emails bounce back?
I took pathophysiology at SBCC with ***** *********, he was okay just make sure you read all the posts on the message boards because he docks you points if you dont. For pharm at SBCC the professors first name was ***** I cant remember the last name. I really liked these classes because they did not pile excessive work on you, like some online classes do there was just basically two message board postings and a quiz every week with two exams and a 2 page paper. I found interpersonal communication at SBCC much more difficult, amazingly.
Run, just out of curiousity do you know if.. once SMU determines that your prerequisites are adequate for admission and you get the email that you have made it past the first round, is that group of 100-200+ elligible students then put into a random lottery for the 48 or 96 seats (Including both campuses) and just chosen by chance, or is admissions accepting people based on personal history/experience/gpa etc.? I'm a little confused as to what their guidelines actually are. Are we wandering in the dark hoping to be randomly selected because we meet the minimum requirements or do some of us have better chances than other based on what we have done with our education and experience?
I'm taking Interpersonal communication at Napa CC and it is kicking my butt! Much harder than any of the science classes i've taken! Must be the teacher. Do you know a way I can get intouch with ********* so I can try to add his email is not listed on the web-site? Thanks
If you are already registered at sbcc you can email him through pipeline you can find all the staff emails under address book when you compose a new email. I'm not sure if you can email him from an outside account. It seems to me he never gave us an actual email for him that was outside of the webct program.
