Hi all,
I noticed threads for other Samuel Merritt campuses and semesters but not the ABSN program that starts January 2010 in San Mateo. I was a little discouraged to read all of the frustrations of the San Francisco campus for fall. San Mateo is my #1 choice and it was only between that and Sac for winter semester. I'm wondering if there is anyone else who applied for 2010 in either campus. From what I gathered from other posts it takes about 3-4 months to get a reply? Its gonna be a looong wait! Who's waiting with me?
Do you think it will be very impacted?
With Regards..
Hello everyone. I applied to the san mateo campus for january 2010...Like all of you i am anxiously waiting...At first i thought i was a shoe in, but after reading all of your posts, im starting to get very nervous. Months ago i had the assistant director of the ABSN program (Che) look at my transcripts, and said i basically had my foot in the door with the grades, entrance exam score, and the fact that im a guy(since guys are a minority in the nursing profession)...My only weakness was a lack of much work/hospital experience. But che told me that it was the nature of that program, that many people lack hospital experience. So i didn't really consider it a deal breaker. But now, after hearing that 177 applied to san mateo?!!!WOW!!....does anyone know if all 177 included those who didn't qualify as well?
Hi Everyone,I forwarded on my application from Fall '09 in SF to San Mateo, since I didn't get in to SF...
Did you get an e-mail from the Director of Admission, regarding your preference for either the Sacramento or San Mateo? I thought it was peculiar that she had sent me a personal message.
So I probably wasn't the only one to get an email from SMU saying that the review panel found my application 'complete'. (yay!) Although I already knew that i was a little scared my A+P and Micro may not make the cut since they were Denver Community College online classes. I guess SMU is okay with that. If that rumor about mid september is true we should be hearing soon. Will they email us our rejection/acceptance letters as well? I'm a nervous wreck every time i get anything in my inbox from them!
No, I recieved the 'little' envelope for my SF attempt. What's nice is that they included a very short form to fill out and send in if we wanted to have our applications put in the running for January 2010 in San Mateo or Sacramento (without having to submit another application fee). So I'm waiting along with the rest of you here. Luckily, I was accepted into the ELMSN Case Management program in Sac, so I'll likely decline the ABSN program if accepted.
Long story short: I've played the waiting game and I've seen both envelopes. The 'big' one is so much nicer! I hope you all get to recieve one of your own for whichever program you're waiting on!
No, I doubt any calls have been made (since no one here has posted yet). When I applied to SF, the application deadline was March 1st and they didn't start calling people until late June (~3.5 months later). The due date for the applications this time around was July 1st, so I wouldn't worry too much until maybe late-October (even early November). All the calls were made within the span of a week, I think.
Anyway, to put your minds at ease, I think the odds for acceptance here are pretty reasonable. For SF, there was only one program beginning in Winter with a total of 214 applicants for only 24 seats. This time around, there are four programs beginning in Spring (two ABSNs and two ELMSNs) totaling ~88 seats. Some of us applied to both an ABSN and an ELMSN program. If any of us are accepted into both, we have to decline one of them. I've already turned in my letter of intent for the ELMSN program, so I'll be one less person you'll be up against for a seat in the ABSN. I'm guessing there may be others like myself applying to both as well.
Good luck, and keep us posted on when the phone calls start rolling in! :wink2:

Thats because the SF program starts really soon.. I think next month? and the San Mateo program starts in January. Was your friend on a wait list? If so do you know what number they were? I think most of the SF people started getting their acceptance in July.
