Salary share... post your salary and state
What is the starting salary for an LPN in south west Florida? Looking to relocate once I'm done school next year.
Hi Stephanie, you sent me a private message and I had replied to it and I have sent you an email to the email address you asked me to contact you at.
Let me know if you got anything....
Thanks,
Jamee
Be mindful that you might need to accept the $15/hour job to get a foot in the door for some experience. The nursing employment markets in many cities are saturated with far too many new grad nurses. This especially rings true in metropolitan areas that pay competitive wages such as California's Bay Area, NYC, Philly, Chicago, and Dallas.
I agree. I think a lot of people get a particular salary figure in their minds, but when they graduate and it takes months to find a job, compromise might be necessary. Higher salaries can always be earned, but the most important thing as a new graduate is to find a place that is willing to hire and train a new nurse.

Your point is very salient. As a new LVN I had to accept a noncompetitive pay rate because I had no other chips on which to bargain. After all, I was new and unproven.
After approximately two years on that job, I was no longer new and no longer unproven. I was therefore able to take my work experience elsewhere and command much higher pay.
Started at $17.15 hourly on Orthopedic floor at a hospital, with differential of $1.15 for overnights. Year later $17.88, $19.03 with the differential. Not worth the pay for the stress that overnight is causing in mental and physical well-being. Will definitely take less to work day shift somewhere else.
