Hello all. just reading different threads and wondering what does the starting salary look like for a grad nurse? i live the in Atlanta area so any ball park figure will do. thanks!

Anybody who has worked at St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach Orange County? I have a job interview for an RN position in Medical Surgical ICU. Just wondering what the salary is for a specialty area like ICU. Thanks for anyone who can answer my question.

Wow, I gotta get out of Florida! We don't get paid near as much as the Nortern States!

upstate ny $20.00

Anyone have an idea what a new LVN salary would be like. Location is Fort Worth, TX

I am finding in NWOH, the rate is 19.50 for new grad and then anywhere from 21-23$. I was disappointed to find that I would not be making a big change from what I am making as an LPN to a RN/BSN, they dont pay more for the BSN and I have been an LPN long enough that its not a big jump. At least not where I am now, but there are place, other places, places not like Ohio, beautiful places.... sorry I had a moment.

In australia for a new graduate nurse it starts at A$20. how much is that in US$$ i am not sure but perhaps somewhere around 16-17 US dollars? you are lucky to get 23-30 in the USA that is not bad at all for a starting RN.

I'm starting at $30/hr here in Southern California. It really depends on the hospital and shift you choose to work. I've was also offered a new grad position starting at $23/hr, but obviously chose to go for $30 !

I noticed that you are located in Southern CA, do you know of any community colleges that have flexible schedules?

Thanks!

First of all, I can't believe that CA new grads make so much. I know you say a 1bdrm apt can cost 1000-1500, but that's how much it is in Northern VA and some parts of MD. I work in MD and as a new grad I started off at 21.25/hr day shift. I'm now working flex (no benefits) and make 32.90 days, $41-43 for nights.

The reason CA new grads make more is, IMHO, the ratio law. By limiting patient assignments to no more than five, the demand for RN's has increased dramatically, so new grads benefit from that. Also, union contracts tend to increase pay in certain areas, because even non-union facilities have to pay more to compete and meet ratios.

So ... that's why the pay is higher, IMHO. But, the cost of living can be outrageous also. It obviously depends on the area but ... $1000-1500 won't get you an apartment in a lot of places.

Does anyone know if you get offered more money if you specialize in something like Labor & delivery as a new grad? Just curious to know if it makes a difference since there's more liability involved.

In san antonio tx GN makes an average of 18-19$/ hr. I'm not sure how much more for differentials. Cost of living is alot lower than california! which is great! The only way I would live and work in california is if I were a traveling nurse. No offense to anyone but the cost of living is too high!

As a Graduate Practical Nurse, I am starting at 19$ an hour, bumped up to 21$ after I get my license and then 23.50$ for evening differential in Fairfield, Connecticut. Working in a nursing home performing med passagem wound care and charting for about 20 patients.

I work in NYC and my starting salary was $31.80 and $3 extra for shift diff. I dont know how people survive in NY that make any less. The cost of living here is ridiculous and I still live at home.
