How did you prepare for your Nclex -Rn
:up:I am sure you will be fine. Make sure you get all your stuff in to the board of nursing for your state so as soon as they get the paperwork from your school you will get your ATT. Good luck!

Will i be hard to find a job?
Every floor is different but I absolutely loved it. I am no longer there because I moved out of state but the staff was awesome. I still speak to some people from my original orientation group. The orientation process is VERY thorough.

Will i be hard to find a job?
I didn't do ANY of my clinicals at NYP and I was hired on as a new grad. Also, I knew quite a few nurses who came on before they passed their nclex. I really don't know what is it that they look for in their applicants. I've never interviewed for an RN position in NYC and not gotten an offer.

Will i be hard to find a job?
I dont think that you should have ANY problems finding a job. Right out of school, I had 3 offers. One at NYP-Cornell, One at Maimonidies, and one at Methodist. That was just with my associates. I mean granted, it's 4 years later but the last time I checked, NYC had about 10k nursing shortage. Good luck, hope it all works out.

1. Take the test as early as possible. 2. Do computerized questions (since the test is computerized), if you notice that there is an area or style of questions that you need to study more, focus on that area instead of trying to study everything you learned. When I graduated, our dean told us to study that way. 92% of the people in my class passed the first time. I passed with 75 questions. She advised us to do about 3000-5000 questions, or until you see your scores are about 78% or more. I did questions:confused:, until I was blue in the face. A couple days before my test I didn't want to see another question. I felt ready. I didn't waste money on any of those review courses and it worked for me.

How do you deal with all the bickering and backstabbing at work?
I just try not to feed into that stuff. I have developed this attitude where I am not there to make friends. Its nice if everyone could be cordial but that's not the world that we live in. The last job that I worked at I got into it with one of the day charge nurses and I was working nights. Every time she was charge she'd give me the hardest assignment. I wouldn't even say anything about it. I would do my job. I found out later that my reaction to it was eating her up. I later spoke with her about it. I deal with the issues that affect me directly and deal with the people that's causing them. I have no time for the gossip. Even when they try to tell me stuff about other people. I just listen without responding or sometimes I tell them I have a patient to tend to.

Is there anything that you cannot handle as a Nurse?
See thats the thing, I have asked quite a bit of nurses and they've said suctioning as well. I've worked in pulmonary for a couple years and have seen some nasty sputum and it doesn't bother me at all.

Nursing, for a long time was a career that I tried to avoid because I had a very weak stomach. I feel like I made the right decision in deciding to become an RN because I am a nurturer. There are still some things within the profession that I cannot look at though. Any procedure that I have to sit through and watch the patient wither in pain makes me slightly light headed. I am transitioning into oncology right now. I watched a bone marrow biopsy being done this week and I had to sit down half way through the procedure. I just wanted to see what other nurses felt about this and if there was anything within the profession that they felt they could never do or watch.

Most RN's first borns?
I'm an RN. First born child as well but neither of my parents are alcoholics.

staffing
IMO I think that they do try. I know when my unit has staffing issues they get out and recruit and hire new nurses. I have never seen a NYC hospital offer sign on or relocation bonuses though. People are attracted to NY just because it is NY. You moving from FL to NY is a prime example.

LA or NYC
U can probably find a studio for that price...to be honest it may even be more. Rent has sky rocketed in the area because the Nets are going to be moving there in the next couple years. Most apt buildings do not have parking for tenants. Parking will be an issue that I know for a fact. You will have to do like everyone else and park on the street because you will need to work a whole lot of overtime to afford an apt and a parking garage spot.

staffing
I dont think it's to save a "buck". Hospitals know the impact that staff shortage has on patient care. Nurses quit and get hired all the time. It's definitely a shortage issue.
