Sacramento State Spring 2022

Published

Hi everyone- I wanted to start a thread for those of us who have become accustomed to living on the edge of our seats, who would like some moral support, and who applied/ will apply for Sac States BSN program for Spring 2022. Anyone know the point cutoff for the last class? Did they end up taking 80 students? How many points do you have?

Hi, don't order the Figs.  You will have a limited list of options from a specific website you will order from.  I believe there are two top options, three bottom options (one is a skirt) for women.  They take a while to be embroidered and delivered so order as soon as you get the info.  You will also need two pairs of all white or all black shoes (one for lab, and one for clinicals).  I didn't realize that and only bought one pair, so I had to go out and get another.

Do you know if it has to be a certain brand or style of shoe? I want to try to order some ahead of time since the holidays are coming up and I know shipping will be super delayed!

This is copy/pasted directly from our pre-entry checklist:

Shoes  Go shopping for your white or black, non-slip, closed-toe, closed-heel shoes.  A small amount of color other than white or black is acceptable (such as a logo).  Remember you will be on your feet for 8-12 hour shifts, so purchase something comfortable.  Also keep in mind your shoes may be exposed to bodily fluids and other substances, so a shoe that will easily wipe clean is ideal.  Canvas tennis shoes are not acceptable.

Why would we need two didn’t shoes for lab and clinical?

They don't want us wearing the shoes from the hospital into school

Does it matter the quality of shoe for lab? I know clinical is a different story since we will be on our feet for 8-12 hrs.

Thank you! :)) Do you have any recommendations?

I’m a CNA right now and I’m on my feet for 8-16 hours! I either wear my all white Cloves (online brand) or Hoka Cliftons and they’re both great! Also, I’d recommend buying compression socks because they really help your legs not get as tired:-)

They seem to be more lenient regarding lab shoes, and they don't have to be wipeable or anything like that. They also don't have to be new, so if you already have some that will meet requirements, wear those.   But you will spend full days doing lab, so make sure you find them comfortable to wear for long hours.

In clinicals I wear all-white Cloves.  They are easily wipeable, comfortable, and easy on/off.

Thank you! The all white cloves are out of stock in my size so I might wait for those to restock before I order shoes. Those look the most comfortable!

Congratulations to everybody accepted to Sac State's program!  I'm currently in 1st semester and the CNSA (Nursing Student Association) just announced an apparel sale which will run until December 5th.  The items won't be here in time for Christmas, but hopefully before the start of next semester.  If you're looking for some apparel (not uniforms, you buy those from a specific website with a specific group ID) I'd recommend ordering now, to have it delivered to you ASAP.  If you wait until another apparel sale after the start of the semester it may be a while before you get it.  This is the first time they've done an apparel sale where the items are ordered and shipped directly to the students.

Here is the link to order in case you haven't already received the info:  https://stores.kotisdesign.com/ky1ju7wj6n/products?fbclid=IwAR0xMfAIpUQBhb87mn3mpuGhjpB1C44W6P4amzSO2lcSXp_J2ofPNIS4L0w

Thank you for all the information! Are we required to have the CNSA apparel for school? I know we're required to get the required specific scrubs and shoes but am wondering if we're required to have the CNSA apparel and what if so. Do you suggest purchasing the CNSA shirt/sweatshirt? Thank you!

No apparel requirement.  This is just for your enjoyment!  I actually just ordered my first sweatshirt today.  I did also buy a polo shirt at the beginning of the semester which I have worn once to clinical prep.

I heard Hokas are extremely comfortable! Are they the right kind of fabric? I work as a medical assistant right now and just wear black nikes, but I’m not sure if that type of fabric works.
