Hello, I thought I would start a thread for those applying for Sac State's BSN program from Fall 2017 since applications will be here before we know it. Curious to see the GPA's and TEAS scores for that application period.
Yes I have. I got accepted CsuLA and plan on a letter from CSUEB as well just because of their strong veteran preference programs. Most other schools I'm slightly below average with no healthcare experience or bilingual. I may decide to forego CSULA and CSUEB and do exactly what you said and reapply next year with a stronger package.
Right on! There are so many things to consider with all of this. I am assuming Sacramento must just be a more convenient location if you are willing to wait a year to start when you have already been accepted elsewhere? At any rate, it sounds like you have some options which is a good thing! Congrats and thank you for your military service.
My name is Winona Pangan and I'm in Expressed Interest Nursing at my Freshman year. I plan to apply for the Nursing major in Fall 2018. I am aware of the In Progress Policy but do not fully understand it. Since it says that one science and one non-science prerequisite course may be in progress in spring when applying for fall, does that mean I cannot take Anatomy/physiology 2 and microbiology at the same time in Spring 2018? So in other words, I cannot take two science prerequisites?
You would not be able to have AP2 and Micro in progress at the same time to apply. I suggest taking one over the summer. Sorry, edited to say this summer 2017. You wouldn't be able to have an in progress over summer 18' for Fall admittance. If you can, take AP1 this summer, then AP2 this fall, to leave micro for your in progress over Spring 18.
Anyone else super excited the email update was sent last night?! I feel like I've been obsessively checking my email since I submitted my application.
"We received over 460 applications for 80 seats. Based on unverified student-reported data, the applicant ranked number 80 has 81 points—the applicant ranked 150 has 75 points. We anticipate the final cut-score will be lower when we have completed the evaluation and Intent to Enroll process."
Bated breath here, as well. I've applied to 10 colleges and universities, but Sac State is my number one at the moment (considering program length/cost, NCLEX pass rate, housing, clinical partners and quality labs). Visited Sacramento and campus this month and loved it! Can't wait to get to know you all better. Is there another Fall 2017 thread going on with more traffic? Seems kinda quiet here.
Good Luck To All!! The time has almost arrived. Finals are coming up so I am ridiculously busy. However, if you have questions let me know. Also, once acceptance letters go out it might be a good idea to start a Facebook page for your class. Upperclassmen will be able to find you that way and give you tips, documents, study materials, etc.
Thank you @nurse2b_hayley. The time has almost come! Good luck on all your finals!
One thing I was curious about: I know that during their last semester at Sac State, students work with a preceptor. But, in addition to this preceptorship, do you know if students have the time or opportunity to apply for (paid) externships while in the program? I know these opportunities are always optional and depend on availability at local hospitals.... but just curious if you've heard of Sac State BSN students doing externships.

Have you thought about taking that English class over again? 94% is a great TEAS score and with that 4.0 science GPA I'd say one extra English class would be worth the trouble.. of course I am not trying to tell you what to do and I realize each person has their own unique set of challenges as far as work, family, and whatever else might be going on in their personal life. At any rate, you should have a good shot at some of the JC's as is. Did you apply anywhere else?
