  1. How many points are you applying with?

Hello, I thought I would start a thread for those applying for Sac State's BSN program from Fall 2017 since applications will be here before we know it. Curious to see the GPA's and TEAS scores for that application period.

I'm not sure what the cutoff was for my section. I had 80 points. It just depends but if you have 80+ points you probably are in pretty good shape for fall but it seems like the cutoff usually jumps a couple points each year.

I just calculated my points. I have 73. All because of a C in English 1A about 10 years ago. So that drops my GPA from a 3.92 to a 3.76, which costs me about 10 points. Otherwise I have a 94 on TEAS 6 and 4.0 science prereqs. I have no extra points, but military veteran which only applies as a tie-breaker (no added points for military status). Unfortunately the last time they accepted people with 73 points for Fall entrance was in 2013 or 14. Sucks. I'll apply anyways.

I dropped off my application last week, so now I just need to wait. I've got enough points that I'm not too worried about it thankfully.

GPA: 4.000

TEAS: 97.3%

+6 Optional Points

(101 points)

Cot daym, that's legit

Hey guys! Just a quick question for anybody who is familiar with the admissions process. I've read the policies online regarding repeating and in progress courses but I wanted to clarify; if I am planning to apply for Spring 2018, and I decide to repeat Anatomy in fall 2017 (in order to boost my GPA), would my first grade for Anatomy no longer be factored into my nursing gpa due to the fact that my repeat would be "in progress?"

Correct - as long as you don't have another science prerequisite in progress too.

Hi guys!

As a student in the early stages of my Nursing career (hopefully), what is your advice/suggestions for completing the pre-reqs and TEAS?

Btw, I have not yet officially started my pre-reqs (no sciences, just completed Eng302 and Comm. I'm in the Los Rios District). I've just been stalking this forum for a while to get an idea of what I have ahead of me..

Thanks!

Don't bite off more than you can chew (heavy class loads, summer classes, A&P + micro, etc)

I did all my prereqs at SCC, and they've gone well for me. If you have any way to get priority registration, do that, otherwise it'll be really hard to get the classes you need cause they're so impacted.

I'd take one science class at a time regarding Chem, anatomy, physiology , and micro, that's how I did it, got all As. Research your professors on ratemyprofessor beforehand, it can make a huge difference. Unfortunately Nursing is so impacted you can't afford to deal with professors who don't believe in giving "A's". Im personally very picky when it comes to professors. They are either supporting you or just complete turds. Be able to mind the difference if you can. TEAS wasn't bad, but I would highly recommend the ATI bundle package or whatever, the cost is offensive at about 230 bucks, but it's very inclusive and to me there's no better way to practice for a test than taking practice tests, and studying the reasons behind correct and incorrect answers. You will be fine, but mind your GPA with everything. Slow and steady with this career, too impacted to try and wing classes and ruin your GPA. Also if you have free time, get some viable healthcare experience, that will help come application time.
