Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications

Published

Hi everyone,

My name is Daniel and I just wanted to create this thread so everyone applying to Sac State can share their scores and post any questions they may have.

Ill start!

Pre +Co requisite GPA: 3.92

TEAS Score: 88.0%

Optional Criteria: 6

Overall app score: 78

I am planning to retake the TEAS exam in order to, hopefully, get a higher score!

After hitting search. Change the result to 250 per page. instead of showing 25 per page.

then you will have all the modules available from the website..

Press computer keys CTrl and F at the same time. Now you can search the name of the module you want by typing the name of the module in the tiny searching box that pops up. hope it helps

BTW, I finished 4 modules in about 4 hours with quizzes at the end of each module

You Rock! Thanks!
Did we need to send anything about our HIPAA module? the email said no need to send in HealthStream documentation right now, just to do the module and sign that paper after we do it.

Ya, we probably don't need to submit any paperwork for the HIPAA module yet. I just got confused by the instructions on the PDF :cheeky:

Ok just checking! There's a lot of info in there, I had to read them a solid 2-3 times myself 😂

So I went to register for orientation but an option for June 17th (the date listed in the notification email) wasn't available. What should I do?

You can send an email to ------------------(email address in the admission email) asking her about the orientation. I did so today and she signed me up for the transfer orientation on the 17th :)

what do you mean "Co and Prerequisite" ? how did you prepare your GPA courses and is that for all your general education courses or just main nursing related courses such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and nursing major courses ?

What is your suggestion to a preparing student like me to prepare TEAS and GPA? Thank you for your patience and sincere help.

Each school's admissions criteria varies slightly, so you'll want to familiarize yourself with each of them. I recommend researching Sacramento State's on their website here --> Traditional BSN Any questions you have about "co and prerequisites" can be answered there.

I wrote this for another poster in another thread, but it applies here as well.

A few pointers:

  • Don't take more classes than you can handle if you want to earn a 4.0 gpa. If taking an extra semester gives you a better chance at a 4.0, do it.
  • Manage your time well. Make a schedule and stick to it ("to do" lists are evil). It will force you to look at the reality of how much time you have in your day, and how long your tasks will take. I've found that keeping to a planned schedule has extracted many crafty, resourceful, and celeritous decisions. On that note...
  • Treat yourself to a reward when you do accomplish what you set out to do, even if only for completing that day's tasks.
  • You'll get out of school what you put into school. Don't depend on your teachers to give you an A grade (or blame them if they don't).
  • Visit your teachers during their office hours early in the semester if for no other reason than that they know who you are, and that they know you're trying.
  • Make a list of questions you have during either class time, or while studying on your own. You'll likely forget what question you had when the time comes to ask otherwise. You can ask these questions during teacher office hours, or through email.
  • Have a clear and defined goal in mind, and what it will take to achieve that goal. This will help to drive you when you feel overwhelmed, or you feel like giving up.
  • Just a personal preference, but I don't enjoy study groups. Being one of the better students in my classes through pre-reqs, I've often found study groups to be one of two things: one, a time to socialize, or, two, me tutoring the entire group, and getting nothing out of it in return. On the other hand, the positive experiences I do have studying with others has included being with one or two other highly motivated students where we generally do our own thing, but will bounce questions back and forth to test each other. Those fellow students and I typically have a competitive relationship, and it drives us to be better students.

Hello, Fall 2015 cohort! Just wanted to inform you that I created a Facebook page for us. :)

Facebook page:

MOPOP - Fall 2015 BSN Students

In case you're wondering, "MOPOP" stands for Making Our Passion Our Profession.

Done with the four modules? Wow! That's amazing!

Hello everyone!!

I am super stoked to be attending the Fall 2015 BSN program with all of you!! I will be moving from San Francisco and I am wondering if anyone has any advice or experience with renting a place in Sacramento. I have been looking at the senior on campus living at sac state (the American River Courtyard/ Upper East Side Living) and also craigslist adds for places for rent in the Sacramento area and I am very unsure about what I choose. Since I really know nothing about the area, I would really appreciate any advice on what areas are good to live as a student!!

Thank you and looking forward to meeting you all!

Me too I'm looking for a accommodations and a room mate. If u want we could swap info

I just found out that they may be changing the company supplying our uniforms this coming semester. I was planning on saving some money by buying used, but this might not work for our semester. Just thought you would like to know in case any of you had the same idea. We should know for sure in a couple of weeks when the pre-entry checklist comes out.

Does anyone know if Sac State nursing program allows you to become a CNA after a certain number of semesters are completed? I know some schools do this but I'm not sure if Sac was among them!
