Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications
You can send an email to ------------------(email address in the admission email) asking her about the orientation. I did so today and she signed me up for the transfer orientation on the 17th :)

SFSU Fall 2015
Thanks so much for all the info hopeful7777! I wouldn't be able to spend such a high amount of money on rent... It has been challenging for me to work and take classes this past 3 years, and I don't think I could maintain good grades doing so in nursing school. I decided to go with Sacramento State. I feel like it will be a better fit for me, especially financially. That will make someone on the waitlist extremely happy!

Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications
I hear you Keen Observer. I feel like it may be best to start outside of the Bay Area, get a job there for a few years and apply in the Bay Area once I have some experience. Non-nurses I have talked to tell me I shouldn't worry about that yet, that things may change, but it seems extremely important to me. As you said, I wouldn't want to have to wait 6 months to a year to get a job. I am going to go see the nursing school on Tuesday, and visit Sacramento with my boyfriend. I am hoping this makes my choice less difficult. May I ask you where you heard about SF State's accreditation problem?

Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications
Thanks for the info jlinnrdh! It's so helpful! I wonder why this kind of info is not available on the nursing school website. Maybe they don't want to scare us just yet!

I thought bones were hard
Hi! I definitely remember the despair of trying to learn all the muscles... Here is what helped me: my teacher would always come a little bit early and let us in the room. I would make sure to come early and spend 10-15min with the model, reviewing muscles. It is so much easier than trying to learn in the book, at least for me. You can do it!!!

SFSU Fall 2015
I am so happy I got in!! I now have to make a choice between SF State and Sac State (way cheaper to live there)... I would love to go to SF state, but I am worried about the cost of living in SF. Which areas are more affordable?

School recommendations for Associates degree for RN?
May I ask why do an AA instead of a BSN? I considered an AA myself, but was advised by nurses to pursue a BSN as there is a push for RN to hold a bachelors. I have only looked at a couple AAs: CCSF and Merritt College in Oakland. Both are lottery, not sure if that would interest you?

Signed up for my pre reqs
It took me a while to complete my prerequs. I think it is better to take your time and be able to have good grades and learn the material, rather than rush and get less out of each class. I do admire you for working so much. I worked part time while taking my pre requisites (less than you), and it was difficult.

I need tips about eating when studying!!
What about trying to prepare healthier snacks so that you have something ready to eat? Or maybe try to study at the library so you don't have the temptation of eating?

I made poor judgments during my university days and need some real advice.
I don't think it would be a good idea to not show your transcripts. If you work hard on your current classes, you may be able to bring you gap back up. Also, volunteering may be a good opportunity to make your application better. Not sure if the program you want to apply to would look at that though.

How did you study for the Teas V?
Hi! I took the TEAS last August. I thought the ATI book was very helpful. In order to be prepared I spent one month going over the book and doing the exercises. The online tests also helped to get me used to being timed. My situation may be a bit different as this was my first standardized test (i am from a country that doesn't use standardized test). I would say watch the time, especially for the math section, it goes by so fast! The Bio part was really easy, I really thought there would be more anatomy, but there was only 2 questions. My first score was 84% and my second score 89.3%.

nursing advice
I definitely dont think it's too late to start you pre-requisites! I started at 23. I am not sure where you are planning on applying, but a lot of schools also look at volunteering, which can help your application. Good luck!

Possible to get into a nursing program with these grades?
Hi! You should look at the points (for the impaction score) the different cal states allocate for experience/volunteering/speaking another language. Those also count towards your admission. Good luck!

Help help!!! I have to take microbiology and anatomy/physiology togther??? Or? No?
Hi! I actually took these classes together! I took micro, combined A&P and a speech class during my last spring semester. I am not going to lie, micro and A&P are both very demanding classes. You should make sure that the third class you are taking is very easy, which was the case for me with speech. I basically studied the whole time and did well in all 3 classes, so it is not impossibleif you are willing to spend most of your time studying. Good luck!

Sacramento State University: Nursing Alumni/Current BSN Students
Hi! I just got in to the BSN program. I would love to hear from current student what kind of schedule they have had. I know it could be very different depending on clinical placement, but it would be nice to get an idea. Thanks!!
