  1. You have to fill out an application and attend the info session. The info session is valid for a year. Once you have met all their requorements, they will send you a teas v invite. The school chooses a select amount of applicants based on a point system of 50. I would go to their website and look for their information session dates and attend because it is a requirement. Hope that helped and best of luck to you.
  2. Just an update about my situation. I received an email that I have been accepted to LA Harbor College Nursing Program! Orientation starts in January. I am nervous but at the same time excited about what lies ahead. Thank you to everyone who responded to my post.
  3. I got accepted to both these schools. Which school would you recommend? I have heard good things about LA Harbor. Not too sure about El Camino although I took most of my classes there. Thanks.
  4. I received my letter of acceptance to LAHC nursing program for 2016! Hopefully you guys received good news as well.
  5. I got accepted to LA Harbor College for Spring 2016!
  6. I am in the process of applying to a couple school trying to get into an ADN program. I took an Anatomy/Physiology hybrid course and received a W. It was during the summer and I had trouble keeping up. I ended up taking Anatomy and Physiology separately and did well. However, in the application process, most of these schools allow only one W for the science prerequisites. Now, my question is, by dropping a hybrid course, would that count as dropping 2 classes for me? I am a bit stressed about this. Thank you.
  7. Caliotter, the problem is I am over 100 miles away from the campus and I think I took too many useless classes as an undergraduate. I think I maxed out the amount of courses I can take. Just didnt know what to do and took bunch of pointless classes. Ended up with a history degree and a minor in Asian American studies.
  8. Eclectic and wanttoban, you guys have a high gpa's your prereqs. My GPA is pretty low at 3.47 and getting B's in anatomy and physio worries me a bit. Im also worried because they require a 2.5 cumulative gpa of all the classes taken since college. But I'm going to do what I can to get in one way or another. I really appreciate the encouragement and I wont give up on myself. You guys are the best.
  9. RBD, the problem is that I cannot go back to UCSB since I already received my degree there.
  10. I really appreciate all the feedback you guys gave me. I am willing to work hard and do whatever it takes to be a RN. RBD the problem with retaking some of the classes I failed on is the fact they were upper division courses which cant be made up at a CC. I am really encouraged about your story though and how you were able to rise to the occasion. it really lifted my spirits up so I thank you for that. I guess I will be completely honest and see what happens. Thanks for all the comments and I hope to join you all as a fellow RN!
  11. Hello. Please be very honest with me and not sugarcoat anything. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in History with a 2.17 because of not being focused and goal-oriented when I attended UC Santa Barbara. Being alone and having the freedom to do whatever I want really caught up to me. My first 2 semesters, I failed 4 classes. I barely graduated with a 2.17 gpa which I am terribly embarrassed about. I was in a rut and felt utterly hopeless about life and wanted to give up. I decided to enroll at El Camino College, a local community college near where I live. I decided that I wanted to pursue a career as a RN. I currently have a 3.47 gpa in my prequisites. In my core classes, I have an A in Microbiology, B in Anatomy, and B in Physiology. I needed advice as to how I can improve my chances of getting into an ADN program. Also, if I don't transfer over my transcripts from the University would they somehow find out? I so regret not taking my education seriously in my early 20's and it has definitely caught up to me. I would love to hear from people who are in similar situations as well as current RN's who can give me some real advice. Thank you so much!
  12. No, I have no previous medical background. I have yet to volunteer in a hospital but I plan on doing so before I apply. Also, are B's insufficient in the eyes of the committee that accepts/rejects applicants?
  13. Hey guys I needed some advice. I have a bachelor's degree in History at UCSB. My GPA was very low (2.17). I took my pre-req classes over the past year in (A in Micro, B in both physiology and anatomy). The problem is that all the schools look at the past GPA's of all classes taken since high school. When I was an undergraduate at UCSB, i did not take my education seriously and I really regret now. However, I tried my best since going back to a community college to fulfill all my pre-reqs for the nursing program. Do I have any shot of getting accepted? Thanks.
