Has anyone been accepted to SAC Nursing Program (Fall2011) already? If so, post so we can wait together. So nervous.. I already applied and I am waiting to see If I have been accepted...I did look up threads about SAC and I have read its pros and cons..Good luck to everyone.
daisyis - ..the company that actually takes the prints & does the check is pretty quick, ...I did one just last week for the BOP(board of pharmacy) & requested a copy for myself...which I just received in the mail today, ...but what we will be waiting for, is a copy to go to BON...and then...they sort through...enter the info they need or whatever, and mail us the "postcard" which of course we need to include in a completed packet.
...from some posts thoughout this forum, it seems like can take a few weeks...even with a person with no kind of negative marks...just normal process. ...we'll find out soon enough.
..and that is a good point about the flex schedule and tuition, ..I hadn't even really considered...so busy with all the other hoops & hurdles to get this goin'.
..and the flu shot, ..yeah that wasn't listed in all the other info on the site..but it is no big deal, I just went & got it Tue, any clinic should have it..just call ahead.
..another thing on the packet: on page 4 in the list of all the things to compile/turn in it says "letter of acceptance and Notice of Intention to Attend" ..."ASAP" ..so I'm thinking they want that prior to the rest of the packet...& I went down there to turn it in...wrong, it is to be included in packet:uhoh3:
Hi I recently just got accepted as well....when I spoke to the Nursing Dept. they told me just to get a letter from my physician stating that the H1N1 Shot is not in season and currently unavailable...I also asked if I should just get the flu shot but she said no because she didnt want me to get anything I didnt need. If you want you can call and double check but thats just what they told me like a day or two ago.
Ok I got fingerprinted on Wed, now I need to drug test, get a new TB test (mine expired in April) and then the H1N1 shot and I believe that is all. Is anyone else having trouble with the link with the material about the hospital orientation quiz
..lol..I had to do the same thing with the TB test because mine expired (they say to start with all that stuff way early...so I did:uhoh3:)
..as for the hospital orientation quiz: I think that will come at a later time...which they will announce for the link...we are still pretty far out from start of fall.
..for any still monitoring our thread, please post when you get the blue "postcard" from BON for the background check stuff...from reading other thread history, seems like the wait time for that can differ alot.
Does anyone on Financial Aid have their award letter posted? I filled out my FAFSA in Jan and my award letter is still not posted on my ACES account... so I don't know how I will turn it in
..that's a good question, I was wondering the same thing because this is the first time I've even applied for it..so its new to me. ..on Friday I went to the nursing admin office, and they said that after my initial FAFSA app was approved, I then needed to actually go through the financial aid office to submit or process or whatever they do with it to actually have that letter.
..it would appear that there is no concern of having an incomplete packet without the award letter, but rather..to make sure your $ are available on time...so as not having to come up with a big out of pocket chunk of change when tuition is due.
..maybe someone else has some clarifications that can help?
oh good grief! ...tryn to get through to a live pulse is impossible right now. I decided to send emails and was able to get response within 15 min in regards to CPR. Mastertrain.net have classes M-S at $50.. i'm going to the Wed night class at 5:30 (American Heart and Provider). They said its first come first serve, no appt needed.
I submitted a declaratory order petition in Aug when I applied for the Spring program and after submitting fingerprints and $$ for background check it took 2-3 weeks to receive my clearance letter from BON (not a blue card). Now I'm waiting to hear from SAC if I need to do this process again (for postcard)? ..crossing fingers
Just need my TB & flu shot
Im so excited and scared at the same time!! :sofahider
...and my friend still has NOT received noticed if accepted or not, anyone still pending??

..I also have heard of a couple folks that hadn't heard back either for accepted/denied...and that's not good! they need to know...have they tried to go down there in person for clarifications?
..that's good that you got that declaratory thing done with early on..and out of the way! I've read that it can be a big hastle and possibly cause later start time/semester ..for the program. ..hopefully you won't have to do it all over again, well mabye the prints...but since you have that clearance letter, you won't have to go to all that again.
..it musta been for something pretty minor, in order for you have recieved your "clearance" letter so quick!! from a declaratory order, I've heard those gone take pretty long sometimes from what I hear....& if you don't minde me asking; the "something" that you had to do the declatory order for----how long ago? ...situation? ..just wondering..musta been something pretty small.
thanx
howdy, ya it was a minor traffic violation that escalated into a pain in my rear end, in AZ back in 07... good'ol AZ!
..my friend has not gone down there yet to check on status since he had been there several times before the letters went out. Wish we knew what the hold up was though.
Thanks for the info and lookn fwd to meeting everyone at orientation!
Hello Everyone! I know its been a while since I was last on here but boy have I been busy! I know its hard work going through this packet and getting everything done, but imagine having to cipher through everything all the way in Maryland!!! I just flew in to San Antonio on Sunday and went running like crazy all day Monday getting fingerprints done and the drug screening done. I took care of all my immunizations before I left so I just turned everything I had in to the Nursing Dept. I was so relieved that they were willing to work with me because I was coming from out of town. I was worried that they wouldn't accept my package without the blue postcard but considering my circumstances, they did. I just have to overnight it to them as soon as I get it in the mail. I leave back out for Maryland tomorrow, then I will be flying back out here in July to Register....then back to Maryland....then back out here for good in Aug for the orientation and to start school....WHEW!!!! I'm tired already and the journey has just begun!!! Excited as ever and looking forward to meeting each and every one of you. Take care!!:)

I am thinking that the BON postcard will be quick to receive, at least I hope it is! When I went online to schedule a fingerprint appointment, the soonest they had was for Friday this week, and I scheduled it 3 days in advance. I noticed on the admission packet it says we need a flu shot (seasonal), but this was not a part of the required vaccines before. I tried to call the nursing dept but of course have not received a call back from them yet - I guess I should be safe and go get a flu shot? They are harder to find now that we are out of flu season!
idiopathic - I am guessing too that the tuition will be regular tuition for 10 hours, but is that twice per semester because they are flex classes? And I wonder if the nursing fees are twice per semester, too. I wish there was someone on here who could answer that is in school right now, I am trying not to take out loans and I like to know things in advance.
Oh and here's a tip for everyone - if you are trying to get your books, check out half.com. I just ordered 3 of the books we will need, the current editions, for a total of less than 50 dollars - and that included shipping. Half.com and Craigslist are my bestest friends right now!
