Rutgers Newark ABSN Spring 2022

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I thought it would be good to start a thread for people who are applying to the Rutgers Newark second degree BSN program for Spring 2022. I just started my application now.

Does anyone know where to submit the BLS certificate? The Rutgers second degree BSN website says that we need it before we apply, but there's no place to upload it on the application. Also for CLEP exam scores, do we need to include those anywhere in the application? I'll have my score sent to Rutgers, but not sure if we need to do anything for it in the actual application.

@studentC7 Thank you for your response! When you spoke to the counselor did they manually enter the grades for you while you read it to them?

Hi everyone!
I also got received an email stating I was missing 1 or 2 documents. My application was complete and I sent them a screenshot of my Rutgers portal with everything checked off. I’m honestly a little frustrated. They told me I was missing one class, which I took last Summer. Then they followed up asking which of my classes applied to two classes I was supposedly missing but have taken. They seem very disorganized. I’m definitely being dramatic but this process is off putting. They have my unofficial and official transcripts I don’t understand why they can’t look them up? This is my second time applying and there were no issues last year. I got accepted to one program already but have been waiting for Rutgers since we were supposed to hear back this week.

No problem! And she cross referenced my transcripts and added the grade in herself. But she read everything out to me to confirm she had it correct. It took less than five minutes to do. After that, I received an email that everything is completed. Try calling the number at the end of the email tomorrow.

I'm a bit anxious too, so I understand! I'm honestly thinking there may be some system issues and thats why theres an additional extension? Maybe people's documents weren't loading correctly or something, I'm not sure.

@dmatterp Hey! I received a response letting me Know I’m missing all my prerequisite grades. I go back to my application and don’t see anywhere to do that. Do any of you know how I can do so? Did you hear back too?

Hi, I did hear back and they said that I'm missing Chem 2 and sociology. I took sociology CLEP and sent them the score on 9/17. It looks like they never received it despite of the fact that I called them like 20 times to check if they got my CLEP score. I think maybe they never processed your official transcript. You'll probably need to call them to make sure that they have all your official transcripts added to your application.

Hey everyone. I applied for Spring 2022 (super confused because I thought I applied for Summer 2022). I got the email that my application is complete but missing one or two items. I checked my portal and everything was checked off so I emailed admissions. They told me it was a mistake and that they have located everything.

I'm also confused because I never uploaded a BLS certificate. Is that definitely a requirement as part of the application process or just pending admission into the program? I know BLS certifications are offered in as little as one-day courses. I'm confused why I was told my application is complete without that.

I was rejected from Iona and Manhattanville for Fall 2021. I was rejected from Pace and Mercy for Spring (Jan) 2022. This process is so discouraging. I'm wondering if I'll have to go for an associate's RN program now. I only have four schools left between Jan 2022/May 2022 so I'm getting so down on myself.

Hi! Your BLS isn’t required for the application. You just need it before the program starts. It is a discouraging process but don’t give up! I applied to Rutgers and Miami last year and didn’t get in. This year I only applied to Thomas Jefferson, GW, Rutgers and was holding off for Montana and Colorado but just got admitted to TJU. I believe for some people it’s even their third time applying to Rutgers. Most people I know have applied 2 or 3 times. Just use the year in between to improve your application. Take courses to boost your GPA, I took my EMT course this past Summer and I think that helped a lot. I could be wrong about this but applying as soon as the apps open gives you a better chance too because there are more spots available in the program. Don’t give up! You got this!

Hi Guys,

After reaching out like 2k times to the department I was made aware I'm missing chem II or Organic Chemistry. I took both of them during my BA so when they told me this I ask if they could use my prior grades. They told me no so the counselor suggested I change my application to Summer 22 so I can take the missing class. What a bummer. I mean I submitted my application super early and had time to take the class during the fall semester like I stated prior.

Good luck to anyone applying for Spring. See you guys during the Summer semester LOL. Speaking to the universe that I would be accepted.

Wait… so you took/completed the chem/Orgo prerequisite and they’re telling you you can’t use it? That doesn’t make any sense?

This makes me nervous because the guy emailing me was making no sense and wouldn’t answer my questions after 3 emails. He would just reply with “ Great! Thank you for this information. It is received.“ I asked multiple questions like did they receive my transcript? Will I still find out this week? Is this going to mess up my review process? And that’s the answer I got… They need to get it together. This whole process has been a mess.

Hi!

Please don't panic my situation is a little different. My BA is international and they do not accept prerequisites from out of the country (I didn't know this until I spoke with someone). I would be taking the class again in my community college to complete the requirement.

Try reapplying to pace after you get some experience. Same thing happened to me for Summer start and I got into Spring 2022. if anything I was glad I got to get experience because now I have an ER/trauma or SICU job waiting for me when I graduate
