Hi everyone! I thought it would be good to start a thread for people who are applying to the Rutgers Newark second degree BSN program for Spring 2022. I just started my application now.
Does anyone know where to submit the BLS certificate? The Rutgers second degree BSN website says that we need it before we apply, but there's no place to upload it on the application. Also for CLEP exam scores, do we need to include those anywhere in the application? I'll have my score sent to Rutgers, but not sure if we need to do anything for it in the actual application.
Hi everyone! Just got accepted and put down my deposit, this is so exciting! I tried to activate my NetID account but it says that it is unable to process my account at the moment. I called the IT help and they said to wait a few days for it to process so I guess I will see. Did anyone else have this problem when they first enrolled?
Just saw I was not admitted ? last few weeks application status was “under review”. Last week I got an email that my application was missing an item or 2. I called the number and they were able to locate my official transcripts, even though I had them sent out back in September. All week my status read “application submitted” and this morning I checked the website and still application submitted so I calle the number and Felicia answered and looked me up. She said did you submit everything? I said yes, I spoke to Gregory and he was able to locate my transcripts he confirmed over email everything was received and application is being sent for review. She said OK you should hear back soon. I get home check again and status is “not admitted”. This was my third and last time trying. I hope everyone who is waiting gets some good news though ?

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that!! ? I pray you stay the course and continue to pursue your dreams! I'm actually in the same boat as far as seeing that my application was "under review" and then went back to "application submitted" this week. I applied towards the end of the oct. 1 deadline so I wanted to wait maybe another week before reaching out. After you reached out, did you also receive an email or did you just check the portal?
Thank you for your kind words @studentc7! I would reach out today because they were very disorganized this time around. I got an email letting me know I was missing an item or 2 and nobody would respond to the email. I called and my official transcripts were needed to be uploaded even though I received confirmation they were received in September.
@corinne_nicole4 @cphilly @weeg congratulations on your acceptance! I was notified that I got accepted yesterday, did you receive an additional email about a security deposit? I don’t see that I owe anything on my end (I’m assuming it’s because I just accepted their offer). I only received a link instructing me to the next steps (orientation, background checks, etc). See you in January or at the virtual orientation! ?
Is anyone who was accepted willing to share why they may have stood out? I realize its very competitive but does that mean they only accept people with 4.0GPA. Anyone get accepted with less? Did anyone get admitted without personal statements (since they said it was optional)? Ill be reapplying for Summer session and would love some insight. Thanks

I had a 4.0 science GPA, 3.6 undergrad GPA, no pre-reqs in progress. The only low grade that I had was a C in undergrad psych but I did not submit a personal statement. I got the sense that was only required if you had multiple failing grades or extenuating circumstances. I also submitted my BLS certification. I do think the science GPA is what carries the most weight though, since the specifically mention that on the website.

I will share, although I’d hate to sound like I’m boasting ? My overall GPA and science GPA were both 3.8, and my degree was in Exercise Science from RU-NB. I believe they said on the admissions page that the science GPA weighs heavily in the admissions decision. They also told me that the personal statement was optional, but I submitted it anyway because (1) I had one already written for other programs I applied to, and (2) I wanted them to know about my hospital work experience. I worked as a patient care assistant in a hospital for 6 months, where I worked with RNs. I don’t know how heavily that influenced my acceptance since they said healthcare experience didn’t matter, but I wanted them to know I had it anyway. When I was an undergrad at RU-NB, I was a member of a nursing club, where we had a speaker from the ABSN program come and talk to us. I distinctly remember the rep saying that in order to be competitive, you had to have a 3.7 or higher GPA even though their minimum requirement is 3.3. This is what inspired me to buckle down so hard and get my GPA so high, since this was the only program I really wanted. However, someone else I knew applied to this program and got in with a 3.5/3.6, so maybe it all depends on the applicant pool. I hope this helped, and I wish you the best of luck!!

No Problem! Thanks for the feedback, I'll reach out today and see.

I received an email about a month ago allowing me to sign up for orientation (virtual), order my clinical uniform, apply for financial aid, etc etc. I’m sure it’ll come to you soon!
