ROSEMAN UNIVERSITY ABSN FALL 2019

Published

Application period has just opened for the October cohort so I figured I should start a thread to see how many people are interested right now!

All questions, comments, and concerns about the program and interview process are welcome to be put down below in this thread.

Hi all,

Is there a difference between an “alternate candidate” and a rollover applicant? I applied for the Oct 2019 cohort and was told I’m an alternate after the last round of interviews, so I just want to know what my options are from this point on before I call my advisor. Are my chances still good for October/February? :(

Thanks in advance~

So, you went through the interview process for October and did not get accepted to the cohort but were told that you were now on an alternate list (as in you might be accepted if someone drops out, etc)? Have they told you what number you are on the alternate list?

Yeah, that’s about right. I interviewed in mid-August and then received the email from admissions about a week later saying the cohorts are full. It was pretty vague so I wasn’t given a number for where I am on the alternate list. But whether someone drops and there’s room for me in October or not, I’ll be contacted directly.

Should I follow up with the admissions director or my advisor? I got this email last Monday and I’ve been antsy ever since.

That’s weird — I had no idea that was even a possibility (!). I didn’t even get an interview and my application has been rolled over to the next cohort. In my opinion, you still might have a chance to be accepted as classes haven’t even begun yet. In the meantime, I would reach out to my advisor and let them know you are in the alternate list and still interested in the Oct cohort (and ask if they could tell you what number you might be). I would also say that while you are patiently waiting, if there is anything you need to do to be eligible for the Feb 2020 cohort, if you are not accepted after the October start date. It can be a friendly, casual conversation to help you get more info (and feel less in limbo).

For those who got invited to interview, as far as you know how many students who got interviewed got offer/accepted your round?

Hello everyone,

Has everyone decided what location to live in when school starts? I'm deciding on whether to live really close to campus so it would be a nice brief 5 minute drive or somewhere further away where rent is much cheaper such as SLC.

Any location recommendations and why?

Thanks,

Daniel

There is very little to do in South Jordan / near the campus - take a look on google maps ? SJ doesn't even have any true bars because the city council is strongly against it (though there are establishments that serve liquor, etc). Because you don't have to be on campus every day, I would recommend living somewhere closer to things you like to do, or in an area where you can save money.

A number of my classmates lived in Sandy/Midvale which is still only a 15 minute drive or so.

Hi everyone,

How did you guys prepare for the interviews and what did some people wear? Any tips for the interviews?

So, I have an interview coming up for the next cohort.

Is anyone kind enough to share their experience in the previous interviews? What was the 15-minute writing sample question? Are the interview questions behavioral (“tell us about a time when you had to use compassion/professional judgement/etc?”). Does it feel like a job interview?

THANK YOU!! ?

Hey Daniel,

I’m also going to South Jordan. I’m staying in Herriman, it’s about 15 minutes away from South Jordan, about 30 minutes away from SLC. I actually haven’t done much research about the area. I just chose to live in the Herriman because my apartment offers EV charging which was important to me since I have a EV.

Thanks! I’ve sent a request ?

Hi everyone!

I am currently a Roseman student at the Henderson campus! I used to read these posts all the time regarding the interview process and what not! Lol

If you guys have any questions, i'll try my best to answer!

And if you guys are interested in getting all the books required, I have all of them in very well condition! They helped me a lot and trust me, you'll spend A LOT of your time reading. ??. I also have Clinical Scrubs (size M) and lab scrubs (size L) both are unisex.

But I wish you guys best of luck in this process & let me know if there's any questions!

According to my new advisor (my old advisor apparently left during the summer), whom I spoke with this past Thursday, said that "Rollovers haven't been sent out yet and probably won't be until the end of the month." She also mentioned that we would have to resubmit another application through NursingCAS because of the new cycle, but it won't be up until next month.

Hi there! Who was your old Advisor? I have been trying to get a hold of mine Landon and have had no luck. I am getting ready to re take my Tease and apply to the next go around.

Hi. Landon left Roseman. I had the same problem. I would recommend calling The ABSN program (866-892-2928) to ask about how you can move forward. They might even assign you a new advisor. Good luck!
