ROSEMAN ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Hi all! I couldn't find any threads for Roseman's July 2021 cohort so thought I would start one. I am from California and applying to the Henderson NV campus. I know applications don't open until December 1st, but thought I would get a jump on this since many of us are getting application stuff together. Feel free to share stats, advice, or anything else!

Congrats @chocomilkcereal

The BSN track is 23 months starting in August isn't it?

Thank you!

No, it's 18 months! 2 months longer than the ABSN.

Hello future nurses,

I'm from California too. My university delayed a program in San Diego, and I decided to apply to programs out of state. My interview for a June cohort will be on April 13. I got accepted at Ameritech but can't understand if this school is good or not (at least this school is cheaper than Roseman). And of course, I'm concerned about a job in California with a diploma from another state. As you can see, I have more questions than answers. However, good luck to everyone!

Hello guys!

I’m actually a current student at Roseman at the South Jordan campus and the townhouse I’m staying at has an extra room. Here is the link: https://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/roo/d/south-jordan-furnished-all-inclusive/7307071577.html

Please feel free to check it out or forward it to anyone you know! If you guys have any questions about Roseman I’ll try my best to answer too! Congrats to everyone that got in!

@JCao @chocomilkcereal How is the pressure to achieve 90% and above in order to pass each block? Is it super intense? Are there students who have failed and dropped from the program because they failed to get 90% and above even after remediation?

@Prija

There is some pressure to achieve the 90%, but during exams you will have an individual exam and then a group exam that acts as a buffer and usually gives you extra points (only if your group scores above 90% together). I would say it really depends on how confident you are self-studying and doing the work (reading, going to office hours, etc) I few ppl from my cohort have failed a block and are waiting to retake it, but I don’t know anyone who has actually failed from the program itself. They changed the policy recently so that you have to fail a block twice to be dropped from the program. The first block will be an intro and will show how the 90% will work regarding your online assignments and tests too.

@JCao "I would say it really depends on how confident you are self-studying and doing the work" - students usually study in groups or self?

I come from an engineering background, so I assume my effort goes multifold than someone from a science background.

@Prija

You will be assigned a group at the start of the program. There is some group work but the majority of the course is individual. Again it depends on your studying preferences. I prefer studying by myself, but there are some people that study in groups too. These assigned groups are mainly for test-taking purposes since there is an individual exam and a group exam during testing.

I just got my transcripts evaluated by Roseman. My science and math GPA is 3.4 and overall prerequisite GPA is 3.7, and TEAS of 80.1%. Im currently retaking my A&P1 to hopefully improve my grade from B to an A and I will also be retaking the TEAS in July.

I need some advice if I should apply for the August BSN before May 1, or just wait to apply for the ABSN in October. Also, does anybody know how many times ABSN meet in person? Thank you!

Hi! I got into the June cohort and I’m still trying to find a place to live. Does anyone know what hospitals Roseman partners with? I want to make sure I’m central. Also if anyone is still looking for a roommate, let me know!

I am assuming our clinicals will be within a 30 minute drive from our campus but I could be wrong. I would search for places close to campus as the hospital locations most likely will change but our campus won’t. I got a place in south Jordan and it seems central to a lot of places I would frequently go!

Hi everyone,

I would definitely choose a place close to campus as you will be going there the most. My last hospital was 30 min away, but the covid vaccine clinic that was also part of my clinicals was an hour away. Roseman partners with a lot of different hospitals all around the area and they change with each block. I would definitely recommend carpooling if you can.

Also, the ABSN cohort meets quite often on campus depending on the block. We never meet for lectures, but you’ll go in for labs and lab assessments (this is when you learn different nursing skills). Right now, the campus is trying to reopen fully, but if you are not already vaccinated you will have to do covid testing every week to be on campus. The campus offers rapid testing every Wednesday from 8-3.

Do these groups remain the same throughout the whole program? Do you get to choose your group or is it completely random on how they assign them?
