ROSEMAN ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Hi all! I couldn't find any threads for Roseman's July 2021 cohort so thought I would start one. I am from California and applying to the Henderson NV campus. I know applications don't open until December 1st, but thought I would get a jump on this since many of us are getting application stuff together. Feel free to share stats, advice, or anything else!

Hi everyone, I will be starting the ABSN program in February 2022 and will need to be away from campus for a few days during blocks 2 and 4. I was wondering if any current students could give me an idea of what these blocks look like? For block 2/health assessment, will we have to be on campus a majority of the days? For block 4/pharmacology, how often do we have to be on campus? If anyone could share what their schedule looked like, that would be super helpful. Just trying to plan ahead. Thanks in advance!

For block 4 that will be easier, since they said we only had to be on campus for 2 days (as long as those 2 days don't happen to conflict with when you need to be gone). Block 2 would be harder since it's the only block of the program that we are entirely in-person M-F. Of the 16 weekdays in the block, only 3 are optional open lab or study days (assuming they have a similar schedule). 2 more can be remote if not remediating either assessment, but I wouldn't plan on having to be away for those.

Okay, so I am from Sacramento, so I would have to fly out and spend like a week or so for blocks, or is this continous throughout the program to go to clinicals almost everyday? And also has anyone done endorsement to CA? Like NV or UT nurse license to CA?

Congrats!!

I'm in Oct ABSN 2021 and we're currently in block 2. Unfortunately, you will need to be on campus from Monday to Friday. Our schedule was 8am - 11am, then open lab until 3pm. Open lab is optional, but you are required to be present from 8am-11am. As far as to block 4, we don't get our schedule a few weeks before the block starts. But it might just be online most of the time. message me on IG @iamjcv for any questions. Good luck! ?

Thank you!! Will do ?

Thank you! For block 4, are the in person days toward the end of the block? I assume it's to be in person for testing?

I think it really depends on the block how often you will need to be there in person. I remember someone asked something similar during interviews and they did say they recommend that you stay local during the program. I know of people who have endorsed their license in CA from NV and I think from UT would be the same. Not sure though maybe someone else can help answer this.

There are people commuting to CA in my cohort (I know of 2, but there might be others), although I think it sounds kind of stressful and depends on how much traveling back and forth you are willing to do. The days we have to be on campus are for lab skills or assessments, which vary by block. Block 2 we need to be on campus almost every single weekday. Block 3 we have to be on campus 1-2 days a week (more if you want to practice during open lab or need to reassess), but they are spread out, so it's not like a large block of time away. I can only speak for up to Block 3 because I'm in the newest cohort. Most blocks have lab components, so they might be similar (we receive block schedules about 1 month in advance). For clinicals, we receive schedules 2 weeks in advance but are advised to be available all days of that block in case a hosposital decides to make a last-minute change.

Pretty sure half or more of my cohort is from CA. Licensure in a different state shouldn't be a problem based on what I've heard.

@chocomilkcereal I had a very low GPA first time- I had to retake some courses to get almost all A's and be more competitive .

@Amm19

if you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA and TEAS score when you first applied? My GPA isn't the biggest either so I'm just trying to get an idea If I should retake courses too. Thank you in advance!!
