Excelsior student here, I've been an LPN for ummmm.......eight months. I started Excelsior in February '08. I've procrastinated a bit, but now EC is all I think about. I have a couple more exams which I plan to finish by the end of September '08. I plan on applying for the CPNE by October '08 and.....hoping to be testing in Albany in February '09.

I love the program, I love the feeling of working on my exams on my time....no one else's. Just stopped by to drop a line...thanks for all the encouragement.:redbeathe:D

Hello there..

I am finishing up my core requirement classes also and will be starting the LPN to RN bridge program Jan 2009.. I'm really looking forward to it! Especially since this year was when I initially decided to go ahead and go for my RN now, got all my pre-req's done in just this year to make it into the Jan '09 program! :yeah:

I have been an LPN for 15yrs, just graduated from nursing school in May'08. I had a very difficult time trying to support my and attend nursing school at the same time. I barely made graduation. I failed my first NCLEX end of July,08. I thought I was prepared to take the test. May have been my nerves and/or studing from too many sources in retrospect. The questions were similiar to what you have studied.

I recommend working as little as possible if you have a choice. Although I have many yrs of experience as an LPN, the RN is on whole other level of care and management of a patient.:wink2:

I am a new LPN and having a hard time choosing the right step to take towards my RN. Any help would be appreciated. Also looking for any info regarding NLN mobility test 1 or ACE test. Thank you, I am 38 and I think it is great so many people go back to school at this age. God Bless..

I just want to make it through med math.... AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Without screaming at my not so supportive husband!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions????

Greetings!

I don't really feel like I fit in here...I'm a paramedic for 3 years going into nursing. But, I don't see any other places...hope I'm not stepping on toes :wink2: I was going to be a forensic scientist, but then my husband became ill with early-onset dementia and I had to quit everything and start over. I thought the best way to make money AND be able to take care of him was to go into the medical field. So...here I am.

I'm in a transition program here in Orlando for LPNs, RTs, and medics. There are only 5 medics in a class of 40! It's been good so far, just started in June. Have my break now, which is the only reason I'm writing!

It's a combination of online and clinical/lab and I'm enjoying it immensely, though the differences in care are immense. Not many of the LPNs have IV certification or administer many medications and I do them so routinely I don't even think about it. They have hospital or long-term care experience and know all about bed baths, oral care, etc. I fell like a big ole' dummy :D

We help each other and that's a good thing. They love hearing my ambulance stories and I love hearing about the patients they have been taking care of for so long. So far, it's a good fit.

Blessings to you all!

Of course you fit in here! We are all nurses, students, medics, CNA's, etc.

You may find folks like yourself in the Distance Learning student forum. Lots of us there are doing the Excelsior distance program. Read some of the posts and you will see RN's to be with lots of backrounds and educations, many like yourself are medics transitioning to RN. Post your questions and concerns on the Distance threads and you will get lots of responses.

Good luck on your journey to RN.

I just finished my LPN year this past June. Passed the NCLEX-PN on July 30th just before the deadline of August 1st in order to enter second year that begins August 25th.

RN here I come.

I just keep counting down the hurdles I jump toward my goal of MSN!

How do you do the Excelsior program? I have heard not so good things about that program.... can you help me with info on the LPN program. Driving 2 hours a day it getting old and expensive.

As far as I know Excelsior does not have an lpn program. They have a distant RN (ADN) program for existing LPN's and EMT's not sure who else qualifies though.

Military medical personal who carry an EMT certification... that is what I gathered from their website. I will see if I meet their criteria. If not, I will press on where I am at. I only wished Kansas had more choices... at least where I am at.

Thanks for the help!
