Hi there...

I am a nursing student and will be finishing my LPN on July 25th '08. Can't wait!!! I am a tech (PCT) in the ED, and really love it. I am the mom of 3 kiddies, and am 40 years old. My goal is to continue and get my BSN. I am searching for online programs to finish up. I just don't know where to begin. Any idea?? I am in NC.

Specializes in LTC, hospice, home health.

I haven't introduced myself yet, so I'll do so now. Better late than never, right?

I graduated from LVN school in mid-November of 2007. As such, I've not worked as an LVN yet because I've not yet received my license. In fact, I took the NCLEX today! It shut off after 85, so I'm hopeful... although it was VERY hard!! But I digress...

I'm enrolled in an LVN-RN bridge program that officially begins on Feb. 4, and I'm grateful that they let me in even though I don't have my LVN license yet.

Hello fellow LPN to RNer's (LOL)

I have been an LPN for the last 16 years. I am going to finish my pre-reqs by the fall of 2009 then I will apply to the RN program. I love being a nurse and am looking forward to change and new opportunities that will come with my new degree. However, school is quite a challenge for me.

Hello all,

My name is Megan and I'm a 27 y/o GPN. I completed my program on January 30th, woo hoo! I am still preparing for the NCLEX. I live in the Tampa Bay area, just to the south. I am currently enrolled in TCN's LPN to BSN through ISU. I am hoping to get a job at a local hospital on a med/surg floor while I complete my BSN then specialize, b/c I would LOVE to be an ICU nurse :) I completed my preceptorship in ICU and it was an amazing 3 days! So, right now I'm just focusing on my NCLEX. Nice to meet you all!

Hi Everyone, l am Teta, 32 years old and switching from teaching to nursing.l am aiming at BScN, however because l left highschool more than 10yrs ago, l was told to either upgrade or take general arts and science for a year before being qualified for admission. l alternatively, have passed my entrance exams into Practical Nursing program. Please can anyone here advise me on which of the two paths is better?

Thanks .

Hey Tiffany, Congrats on passing your exam. If you don't mind me asking, (I am new to this site)...Who are you using for your study guides? TCN, EC, Rue? Just wondering...I'm also in Michigan and ready to start a transition LPN to RN program and want to know what is good. Thanks so much!

I don't know if they're all quite that easy but health safety seemed just like an LPN review to me. I've passed 4 exams in the past 30 days with A's & B's...it can be done.

Specializes in OB.

:nurse:Hi! I just found this fabulous site! I am an LPN since June of 2007 working in an OB unit in a rural hospital which doesn't pay what a nurse is worth. I took the underpaid position because of my overwhelming desire to work in Labor & Delivery. I have always intended to go back for my RN and figured I can get some OB experience as an LPN and then once I have my RN, I can move to a bigger hospital in the city for more money. So, I am now looking into how to go about getting my RN; as in, what is the best option for me. I was thinking about excelsior, but am too afraid of the horrid weekend pass/fail clinical awaiting me at the end of it; as I don't do well under so much pressure. Then I thought about College Network, to find out LPN-RN was through excelsior and for local clinicals I had to go about 3 years for LPN-BSN; which I do not want to do. Because of a lack of many bridge programs in my area, I am considering pre-reqs (about 8 of them) on line through Columbia College (where my husband finished his degree online) and then bridge program an hour from my home which takes about a year after the pre-reqs. I am not real excited about this route, but can't seem to find anything that suits me better. I thought I might ask for advice here and see what everyone else has to say. Thanks in advance for any way you can advise me.:nurse:

I am a nursing student in central California. I completed my LVN program December 2007 and am currently in the RN program. It is a big transition, but I am enjoying it. I am working as a student intern at the local ER while i'm waiting to take my Nclex-VN. I take it next Friday...pray for me!!! :nurse:
