  1. good job on NOT cutting the pill, we have to remember that it is not the nurse's discretion to change the scheduled dose, we have to get an order for that
  2. with time comes experience, with experience comes wisdom and confidence....give it time
  3. Oh yeah, I did buy the book Food Addiction the Body Knows and found it to be VERY helpful:twocents:
  4. Like Commuter said...I too wished that I craved good fruits and veggies...not brownies and cake and ice-cream. I just came off of a 24 hour PIGFEST!!!! I recently started writing a daily log of my life (originally it was to be a food journal) and after the last 24 hours I wrote..ENOUGH, enough of this now it is time to go on. Now I feel better with myself and am not hating myself as I have in times past. It is so liberating to let it go. Before I used to use a pigout session as an excuse to have another one. I am not writing a strict food journal but I am writing what I eat. It is an eye opener and it encourages me to eat better, because I have be to be honest and if I don't want to see 12 krispy kremes on my log, then I don't eat that. I am convinced that I will win my battle with food obsession.
  5. welcome Jennie!!! Congrats on your accomplishments. I too am pursuing my RN and am having quite the go of it!!! Keep up the good work. By the way, I am hoping to work in a large hospital myself, I have been doing mental health as an LPN for the past 16 years and am BURNT OUT!!!
  6. I actually do have physical symptoms of withdrawal from not eating sugar. It is a true sickness for me.
  7. I am definately going to try to get the book, to try to save myself from myself. You all are so great and open in here, thank you to all that have posted, or will post!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!:innerconf
  8. My oh my...you hit the nail on the head!!! Food addiction is my best friend. I have even become morbidly obese and want to get help, maybe someone can offer some help in here. I eat when I am happy, sad, lonely, glad, up, down...you name it. I need help..I really do!!! My health insurance won't pay for gastric bypass because I'm not sick enough. So what the hell...I'm a healthy obese person??? C'mon, you think that the insurance would want to help me so that I can get off my meds and prevent future illness. We live in a real backwards society as far as the insurance companies are concerned. Anyway, I'm gonna try to get them to consider me again, I WANT TO LIVE!!! I just think that if I could get a little surgical intervention that I could work on the behavioral part and get healthy for once in my whole life. I have been heavy for as long as I can remember. I do want to be healthy as soon as I can. Any suggestions???
  9. I wished that I would have gone straight for my RN. But since I didn't, my LPN my help me get into the RN program faster (via bridge). It is more expensive to do the LPN thing first if you know that you are going to be an RN, in my personal opinion.
  10. Is anyone familiar with Clover Park Tech-college..they have a new LPN-RN bridge program I am being told. Does anyone know if they have a wait list???
  11. Hello fellow LPN to RNer's (LOL) I have been an LPN for the last 16 years. I am going to finish my pre-reqs by the fall of 2009 then I will apply to the RN program. I love being a nurse and am looking forward to change and new opportunities that will come with my new degree. However, school is quite a challenge for me.
  12. I have worked 11-7 for the last 15 years!!! I love it for now, I'm quite the nightowl. I'm looking to work 12 hour shifts once I get my RN though (more days off in a row)!!! In my facility the graveyard gets the highest differential and the swingshift(3-11) get shift diff. too.
  13. My worst mistake was making a co-worker so made at me that when it was time to change an incontinet patient, the co-worker didn't lift with me and I wrenched my back. I ended up on L&I for a month!!! I guess I needed help with my communicatin skills!!!
  14. I want to be a medical nurse..someday!!! I'm not too sure where my path will lead at this time, but I know for a fact that I need a BREAK from psyche.
  15. For LPN school I was a broke single mom with 2 little babies, so the state gave me a grant and I got a small student loan for daycare and a broken down used car that ran. When I go to RN school and even with my pre-reqs, I am getting a student loan. I'm going to owe a pretty penny when I'm done.
