    VA Hiring Process

Yes please don't give notice until you have an offer letter in your hand. Here in MI the beginning of this year I was selected for a position at the VA, went through EVERYTHING including boarding which is the process of when they figure out your salary. I had given my job notice because I was told of a tentative date but no offer letter yet. Then comes the fiscal dept doing the annual thing they do. Low and behold I contact the HR dept because it had been 2 months now since the whole process started and told them I received a email stating that the position I was selected for was cancelled. They told me that unfortunately all the positions were rescinded and they will not be bringing all the individuals who went through the entire process because of budget constraints. So yes please don't give notice until you have a letter in hand. Tiffany J.

    Does School Really Matter?

I believe its up to the person who is considering you. I work at the VA here in Detroit and was interviewed twice. The first time the clinical manager was ready to hire me until he noticed I graduated from Excelsiors LPN to RN program. He did not personally like the College. A lot of people are stuck thinking if you don't attend a brick and mortar school but choose online instead, the education received is subpar..just my opinion. I am attending Waldens FNP prog starting in Sep and they have just contracted with a well known and respected hospital system (DMC) here in MI so I should be ok.
  5. The morning shift does the check and administers the insulin as well where I work. Apidra has a before and after window in regards to eating/trays, I think of about 15-20 mins if im not mistaken.

Hi DNPstudent I have a question regarding FNP clinical preceptors. I tried to PM you but your message box is full. Do you have any suggestions or leads you can share in the Detroit ? I start my prog 9/4 and students are required to find their own preceptors. Thanks! Tiffany

    Straighterline Intro Nutrition

I chose this route so I don't have too many pre req courses to take. I have to take the math classes, A&P,Biochem and Micro that's enough lol.And also it was free when I registered for my Eng 1 class.

Wgu and straighterline which classes ?

Shes saying they can be included in the courses needed to be completed at WGU along with the nursing courses within the 6 month semester for free. Also I was told by the admissions coordinator that does the transcript appeals and also my admissions coordinator that they accept ACE credits and courses taken thru Straighterline can be transcribed on an ACE transcript. I just completed Nurtrition and will complete Eng 1 in a couple days. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

    Straighterline Intro Nutrition

I enjoyed this course, I finished with a 75% in one day, there are 15 exams, a Midterm and a Final Exam. I have taken a Nutrition course so some of the info was familiar. I recommend this course. It was very informative and I learned a lot that I didn't already know from my previous class. I intend to transbribe on ACE transcript to transfer to WGU RN to BSN program. Now I'm finishing up Eng 1 that I started on 11/15.
