Next on the list is Leadership in Nursing, who's in?

Mine is opposite. I'm not sure if I'm correct or not either. But think about this, the census number is based on the census, and the variable is based on the unit beds, so variable should be higher than census since the beds number are greater than census, right? Correct me if you think I'm wrong.

Are you looking at the FTE/shift. Looking closely at the variable staff FTE calculation gives you the total number of FTE's but the FTE per shift is quite different and much easier to figure out. Where as the calculation for the ADC yields FTE/ shift straight up...I find it difficult to explain when we can't just talk about it. I do find that part very challenging with an online program. If we were all in a classroom right now we could just say what we mean. Is there another way to "talk" without breaking these rules???

I don't know if I did my calculations. I had to research the equations from the book in ebsco which helped somewhat. I am going with the thought of explaining each step of the equation. Maybe if I can give a rationale I won't be docked for it. I have sooooooo many questions. Also trying to keep all that math APA is fun!

That is the same thing I was going to say...The FTE is not the same as the FTE per shift for the variable calculation...

I understand what you mean. The FTEs do not mean the persons per day or per shift.

So I get that the FTE is different than the FTE per shift. So when we have 30 FTE's to spend on our schedule does that mean 30 to cover the whole week or 30 for the day?

Is this called collaboration or clarification? Many of us have the experience in this course of emailing questions to our TA/instructor and not getting information back within the timeframe of due dates. So far no one has given any info here that could be categorized as academic dishonesty.

I'm confused because I can't find in the book how to calculate the paid hours per FTE for the variable equation. To the left of the box it has the description for calculating the staffing pattern and the first step is "Determine the number of paid hours per FTE". Am I completely missing the part where it explains how to do that?

ETA: After googling I think that number in the equation box might be a constant... So I guess I'll just use that number.
