Rock the Vote Tomorrow!!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Tomorrow, we will be making history, no matter who we are personally supporting. It is an exciting time and I am hoping that we flood the polls tomorrow.

One of the things I love the most about allnurses is that while we may have differing opinions, the fact is that as nurses, we are out there doing the best we can to advocate for patients, give good care with the constant constraints and also give time to our personal lives. This is why I say ALL nurses, LPNs, RNs, BSNs, MSNs, NPs and Doctorates ROCK! And we have something to say about what is happening with our country and patiet care.

Be safe tomorrow, and most importantly, enjoy yourselves. No matter what the outcome will be, we'll all have memories of what we were doing during this historical moment to share with our loves ones and here on these forums!:yeah::heartbeat

*Update* I just voted and there was no line. So much for my smalltalk skills, lol. I love this thread! That's the thing about nurses (and nursing students in my case)...we CARE with all our hearts, whether it's about a patient, our country, this election, whatever.:heartbeat

The two nurses in this house voted. We voted for McCain. I wish a different party's candidate besides a Democrat or Republican could actually make a really viable candidate for president. This Libertarian wanted to vote for Penn and Teller, but they weren't running. :)

Pagandeva, your post brough tears to my eyes.

That's the biggest miracle of this election - that for the first time in American history, we are TRULY one.

"People" have always cared, about the political process. It's just, some people may have lost hope, with the process, the issues, or the candidates,in the past. Maybe they didn't think their voice counted. Well, this election, may be different. This is a historical election. It's an exciting time for many. Go Obama.:wink2:

Yes and no. Many people simply have not cared up to this point. Our current economic and geopolitical situation seems to be waking some people up.

Hey Apple, why not vote for the candidate you think will best represent you in office? The only way to really make a change is for people to really look at all of the candidates research their platform stance and history, and make a decision based on this information.

I voted!!!! I went with one of my friends during our lunch break. We waited for about an hour, but well worth the wait.

I am crying even as I type this...thank you allnurses for being part of my family through this event. May we hang together for the good times and the bad, because as another poster stated, no matter who gets in there, we will be in this together. And the special thing about this is that we, as licensed nurses on all levels are in this together for the team.:yeah::bow:

I voted by mail about a week ago. I had never voted in past elections becuase I had never researched any of the candidates and had no idea who to vote for. I'd rather not vote and than counteract someone else's vote who put in the time and effort to research the candidates. I really got invoved and it feels so good to know what's going on. The candidate I voted for may not win, but I am SO GLAD I participated and did my part.

Great post Pagan!!!!

I voted as well! I too noticed for some reason people were really cordial to one another and there were alot of kids!

This African American guy was having trouble getting the machine to take his ballot. He apparently voted more than once in some categories. The head judge was so awesome and exlained the ballot to him. Poor thing, maybe it was his first time voting. That right there drove home how important today really is not just for me but for those who truly have never voted before or felt a vote from them wouldn't count.

Just like your son PaganDiva! I'm sure you were so proud. Did he get an I voted sticker? I'm saving mine for the scrapbook!

WOOT!! Need I say anymore?? Look at the avatar!!

Cannot say I am thrilled; however, any way you look at the election outcome, the United States has taken a huge step off the beaten path. While I am not thrilled, I really do hope our new president can steer our country out of these rough waters. Perhaps this is what we need. I have already seen a potential shift in how people around the world view US citizens, and it seems to be a good shift.

I don't vote without knowing as best as I can what I'm getting into...
