RN Scrubs

Published

In the hospital you work for, are you able to wear any color srcub/outfit? Or is there a designated one for your department?

I wasn't impressed w/Allheart either. This is probably why they DON'T put a contact phone number on their website...what is up with that?!

If you want REAL comfy scrubs, little more expensive...try UpScalescrubs.com ...and check out the Tencel fabric. It is like wearing jammies, but better. I can't stand regular scrubs now...lol. If they'd only get in more styles...

I got my favorite scrub tops on eBay, actually. Paid about $7 including shipping for 3 scrub tops and get lots of compliments on them. I work at a LTC and the only dress code color requirement is pants -- nurses wear white, aides wear ceil blue.

I have 2 honest to goodness White Swan uniform dresses. Every now and again I wore them with white hose and my clinic shoes. Talk about getting attention....wow. I couldn't find my cap or I would have worn that too. Kind of like a theme party.

I also have 2 ankle length knit navy skirts from the 90s that go with a white blouse and navy warm up jacket. You can do all the bending and lifting you need to and "no panty line."

Of course most days it was navy or Caribbean blue scrubs and rockports.

Wally world has some pretty ones. I don't like mail order for something that has a definite time to be used.

Best prices for scrubs and scopes: eBay.

I got my brand new Littman Master Classic II for $40. And, a refurbished Littman Cardio II for $55. Dickie's scrubs for $17.50 for the set.

Where I work, the departments all have designated colors (ER wears black, observation purple, telemetry teal, mother-baby pink (men can wear blue), ICU navy, CCU red, etc.) Some have approved prints that fit in with the color scheme, others just wear their "color" and white. Anyone, anywhere, can wear white.

I came from a different part of the country where anyone could wear any color; I kind of like the uniformity in spite of myself -- it makes everyone on a given unit look like a team.

As for the stethoscope thing -- I am in CCU and diagnostic cardiology and am very fussy about my stethoscope. I ordered mine from a local mom-and-pop shop and maybe paid a bit more, but got exactly what I wanted.

Check the scrub shops near your hospital too -- a lot of them have unadvertised student and/or employee discounts that you can get by just presenting ID.

The hospital I work at now has no dress code, wear any color and any style...unfortunately, we have a couple of nurses who take this literally and look like they are wearing pyjamas....They get this wounded look if you say anything and say "What are you looking at....they're made out of cotton!" Looks like he**...very unprofessional looking.

The last hospital I worked at, all the units had color coded scrubs, easily identifiable and the staff loved it!

I'm one of those people who is always cold. I am getting ready to start nursing school. Do hospital dress codes usually extend to what you wear under your scrubs (other than the topic of panties)? I will probably want to wear a long sleeve t-shirt rather than one of those scrub jackets - if I can. It sounds like the dress codes are different everywhere - just curious.

I have a tiny bit of an odd question too.

I'm going to train as a CNA when I turn 18 in August, but I seriously dislike wearing trousers. I haven't worn them in years.

I realise that dress codes are different everywhere, but can anybody give any input on whether or not I might be allowed to wear a non-white nursing dress instead of scrubs?

At the hospital where I work, we are allowed to wear either a matching long sleeved shirt or a white shirt under our scrubs. Dickies makes long-sleeved t-shirts that match standard scrub colors. You can get them here:

Our floor has attempted several times to have a dress code but it never seems to work out, the reason being that most of the staff don't want to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. Not to mention, the agency nurses and pool nurses are allowed to wear whatever and a lot of times they staff our unit almost every night.

We identify our license by a big "RN" under our badge that is blue, LPN's are yellow, PCTs (CNA) are pink and we even have badges for the unit secretary and monitor tech.

As far as uniforms, I like Tafford, and I also frequent http://www.nursesdirect.com. They frequently have great deals on tops and jackets. I once bought an adorable Christmas jacket that they had on sale in February for only $5!!! I've never had a problem with either of these places.

I don't think they should do that. Why does it matter who you are. Most time the PCT, LPN, and the RN do the same job. They all do acu checks, vital signs, in/out foleys, take blood, and so many more tasks. It really doesn't matter as long as the job gets done and done right. If you need to wear a name tag on your scrub, tape it on. If you really need a reminder of who you are. I figured you were a RN, cause some can be so conceeded and think they are so much better than anyone else. I'm glad where I work the RNs don't act like that.

the hospital that i work at doesn't really require a dress code for the rn's. most of the nurses wear solid darker colors though, like grays and blues. rt's wear navy.

like other people posted i am not big on allheart either. i have ordered from them numerous times and waited and waited....:uhoh3: for my orders to the point where i have had to cancel a couple times.

i am very slim and have longer legs and i have problems finding pants that fit me so i always order dickies tall. they have petite sizes also.

you can find 'em at www.acornuniforms.com,

www.scrubshopper.com, www.mynursinguniforms.com, www.triggergear.com, www.uniformdiscount.com. i had them and all my other nursing stuff saved to my favorites.
