In the hospital you work for, are you able to wear any color srcub/outfit? Or is there a designated one for your department?

I don't think they should do that. Why does it matter who you are. Most time the PCT, LPN, and the RN do the same job. They all do acu checks, vital signs, in/out foleys, take blood, and so many more tasks. It really doesn't matter as long as the job gets done and done right. If you need to wear a name tag on your scrub, tape it on. If you really need a reminder of who you are. I figured you were a RN, cause some can be so conceeded and think they are so much better than anyone else. I'm glad where I work the RNs don't act like that.
I'm sorry if you were offended by my post d davis, but I was merely stating how we identify ourselves. A lot of times the patient can't tell the difference between housekeeping, RT, radiology or the nurse since there is no dress code in our facility. If I was the patient I would want to know who was taking care of me. I agree, as long as the job gets done and the patient is being cared for properly. I wasn't trying to state that I was better than anyone else, but if you knew me, you'd know that I am no way like that, and I appreciate everyone I work with.

Nursing is much more than tasks :).
Many nurses feel that management likes to quietly cover up the (decreasing) numbers of licensed staff by making everyone look generically like nurses. I personally don't believe it's wrong for a patient to know who their caregivers are.

Where I work different floors where different color scrubs. The med-surg floor wears purple, ICU royal blue, PCU ceil blue and white is always exceptable on every floor. But, the nurses, the secretaries, and the techs all where the same color depending on what floor they work on.
