My wife is just finishing up her first year as a RN.
We are thinking of relocating to Dallas, TX area. By the time we relocate she will have at least 3yrs as an RN. I was wondering if anyone out there would know or have idea of what an RN with (by the time we move) at least 3yrs experience could expect to make/get paid?? I know that base pay and total salary differ however what would the hourly wage be? Right now she makes $23 an hour.

General info for non-Dallasites. The Parkland website is the best for hourly wage info. They list the pay for each job. If it says, negotiable, call Employment Services at 214-590-8266 & ask for details.

I have heard that Methodist Dallas may have some issues, although I don't have any firsthand info. It is not in the most desirable part of town, and some of the employees admit to not liking the clientele that the hospital serves. I recently had an overnight stay at their sister hospital, Methodist Charlton Medical Center, and I have no complaints.

I worked there (Methodist Dallas) as a GN years ago and they had serious issues. I quit after 3 months. Have heard from some travel nurses that things haven't changed much there.

Im about to graduate from school and I know my hospital starts new grads at $24.50/hr and GN as $22.50

28.50/hr as a new grad RN who just passed NCLEX is abnormally high for base bay in DFW.
I agree.. $23-25 is normal
The person who quotes the $28.50 hourly pay rate does not specify whether the person is working at a hospital, nursing home, home health, hospice, psychiatric facility, clinic, rehab center, etc. Certain workplaces outside the hospital will pay a new RN competitively in the DFW area.
One of my workplaces is a nursing home that is owned by Kindred Healthcare. This facility starts brand new RNs at $30 hourly. $28.50 would not be unheard of if the new RN is doing home health, private duty, or long-term care.
