They are currently considering new grads at the Harlem Hospital for ICU and the ER they have 10 positions open. I went for an interview today. For consideration you need to apply in person. Also visit the HHS website for listings in on the other hospitals affiliated with HHC. Good luck.

Hey nadz, did they inform you how long it would take to get back to you?

Hey everyone, I just want to ask, Is there a possibility a nurse recruiter from hospitals would hire RNs with experience from a nursing home? coz hospital and nursing home experience are totally different.

They said about one to two weeks as they r still interviewing. I did get a good vibe and had a great interview where i presented and think sold myself well. Hopefully will get call back.

so did you hear from them yet??

Hey guys I was just wondering and I am just going to throw it out there but what about applying to the military the army navy and airforce have a nursing corps. I was looking more to be a nurse in the navy after graduation more like a worse case scenario. I mean first you are already an officer because you have a bachelors degree and nurses are always needed in the military you can travel the world and visit and help third world countries who don't have the opportunities we do here in the united states. I think it is a huge sacrifice but it is a worst case scenario and what better way than to serve your country:redbeathe

i work for hhc, i'd like to know where did you find out that inf0rmation about nurses retiring at the end of the year. i have been working as a lpn for almost 25 years...i do know this..new grads who have a associate degree are the ones who have the hardest times getting a job..if you have a bsn, most of the hospitals want at least 3-5 years experience in nursing..a lot of hospital do not have the money to do a great deal of orientation that a new nurse needs..look at what is going on in nursing..hospitals are closing..even other titles are being trained to do the work that nurses do..mst.pca. there are some places where a cna takes a course and is allowed to give out medication..they are called med techs..the face of nursing has changed greatly. What it comes down to is the all mighty dollar..medicaid and medicare reinbursements are low. hospitals are trying to do more with less..even less staff. i am not saying that grads won't eventually get a job, its that its not what it appears to be.look on this site, do your research.its not so easy.

pack up and go! there ar soo many pple in NY. there ae only sooo many beds. so at some point unless they build more hospitals, they will not have a huge need for nurses.

I would definitely give upstate a try, I was just offered a position there. It's hard work but make sure you're doing what you can to gain experience and make sure you're practicing your interviewing skills. Best of luck :)

Hi

I am currently thinking of changing my career to RN, I am currently working in a dental office and i don't see any opportunity for any advancement in this field. I am trying to get in RN-Associate program in one of the hospitals in albany and surrounding area's. Could you pls recommend what are best Associtae program in this area. Also how is job for New grad RN's in this area and do they pay well? I am confused if it will be worth takinga risk with my current job and going for RN. I have a lot of family resposibilites. I would appreciate your feedback.

I am taking my nclex exam on Monday. I have been applying for hospital jobs, Long term care jobs, nursing homes, clinics, Home care agencies etc...

This is the new reality for nursing. Do not expect a MedSurg position right out of school. I am a second Career person, 30 male who completed an Associates degree. Though I am currently enrolled in a Bachelors and am anticipated to graduate in the spring of 2013, It is a touch market here in NYC. I believe persistance, networking and continuous effort by even walking into hospitals and clinics, will land an interview so that I can land a job by the summer.

If your someone who is not finding something and its been a year, moving or doing something else, like a certification as a CNA can land you a job in a hospital where you can have an opportunity to meet nurse managers and let them know that you are a great worker, will eliminate the barrier in landing that interview.

Please stay positive and hopefully soon I will have a success story to share by this summer.
