I am a 23 year old LVN practicing in Texas.
I am interested in obtaining my BSN, and am currently in the process of enrolling into the ADN program through The College Network.
I plan to be finished by the summer of 2016, and then bridge from ADN-BSN.
I was looking into The University of Texas Health Science Center- School of Nursing in Houston.
They have a 1 year RN-BSN program.
Has anyone here obtained their ADN through The College Network?
Has anyone bridged from ADN-BSN afterwards, did you find any difficulties?
Do you have any advice?

TCN is not a school, I hope you know. They are just a publishing company that lock you into contract of over priced study guides. TCN cannot promise you that you will get into any college.
If you are interested in LVN to RN, look into Excelsior.

Excelsior and the College Network are not accepted by all colleges or even states so do your research first.

You can research accepted colleges and approved nursing programs on the BON website.

Do a search for The College Network on this site. Also do a search for The College Network on the internet. You will find some interesting material on the various scam websites referring to The College Network.

"Scheme"?
You'd think someone taking on the trouble of writing the complaint would've gotten the word right. Then again, maybe it's indicative of the problem....
Excelsior College - It's a scheme., Review 115933 | Complaints Board
Every time someone posts this I just think, someone didn't pass the CPNE & is bitter. I mean I'm no pro or con EC you just have to be EXTREMELY self motivated & dedicated. I know it's not for me so I would never do it.
There are some people with legitimate grievances against Excelsior, but they are in the minority. The majority of students either obtain their goal, or do not, in an honest, forthright manner. There are far too many people who get what they pay for from Excelsior to focus on the program shortcomings. Now, The College Network, that is a different cup of tea altogether.

Short answer:
NO ONE has gotten an ADN through College Network, but MANY people have obtained their degrees from Excelsior College.
Longer answer:
As other have pointed out, The College Network is simply a publishing company that will sell you (At GREAT expense) study guides for the Excelsior College nursing exams. These study guides contain information that can be obtained directly from Excelsior. You do not need to use College Network's services to obtain your ADN through Excelsior. Excelsior will provide you with all of the materials you need in order to complete the program. No need AT ALL to buy study guides from College Network, RUE, Chancellor's , or any other third party, NONE of which are connected to or endorsed by Excelsior College.
If you are interested in going the distance learning route, I would make sure that you are motivated to do the work. It's not easy. There is a lot of studying involved, and the FCCA and CPNE are no joke.

Emphasize what most have said about The College Network. You can buy the books you really need (from a list Excelsior will be happy to give you) from reliable sellers like Amazon, without the contract that will enslave and impoverish you.
Another detail. There are several reasonably priced RN to BSN courses in Texas. Something many do not realize until they are ready to enroll in those is that those estimates of "1 year" or "18 months" usually assumes you have completed all lower level (freshman/sophomore level) courses you would have taken if you had been attending a traditional 4 year BSN course. That's going to be all those English, Algebra, history, humanities and such. Something to keep in mind is that you can get many of those done anytime now from local community colleges for a much more affordable price than from most universities. Just be sure the courses you are taking are what will be required for the university you plan to attend (some require chemistry, some don't, most require statistics).
Another thing is I know quite a few people who have gone through Texas programs and by far the quickest seems to be Texas Tech online RN to BSN. Most I've known who have all their other courses done can do the nursing portion in about 6 months.
Really good news for you? Texas is generally very accepting of Excelsior degrees. You just face the usual challenges of employers preferring BSN, but in Texas, that can be very regional.
