In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.
One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.
The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.
Online Nursing Degree Programs at Thomas Edison State University
yes this is a online program...i have been accepted and start 6/2 ...i will graduate in december ...i just paid my tuition yesterday and it was $3600....as far as clinicals go ...i think there is some kind of community project involved...definitely not white scrubs and hit the floor kind of stuff...
in december? are you talking about december of 2011? did the 3600 cover tuition and books for the semester...or just basic tuition? was there a chemistry requirement? i have chemistry, but no chemistry lab.
i had a disappointing experience with the university of north alabama. they advertise themselves as an rn to bsn fast-trach online program, but are only suited to traditional education. even with an associate degree in nursing, a bachelor's degree in another subject, and a chpn, they wanted me to repeat 2 basic english courses, 2 basic history classes despite having taken 7 (seven!), speech communication, and a very, very basic and general nutrition course not even geared toward nurses or health professionals! watch out when looking for a bsn program -- there are many out there that want you to take as many classes as possible just to collect more $$$.
so sorry you had a bad experience. but thank you very, very much for sharing. i still have not decided, but may just go back to florida hospital college on-line. there were a lot of 'projects' involved, but it still looks like a good bet.
uhhh no i mean december 2010....the texas tech program is 2 semesters....for me that is summer (full summer) and fall....nope books are extra....tuition is 150/hr but they hang you with all kinds of fee's...distance learning fee's and such....yes you must have chem ..i am pretty sure they would have taken a three hour chem and waived the last hour...because they made a mistake and listed my chem as 3 hour instead of 4 hour so they sent me a form to fill out to waive the last hour...make sense clear as mud..

I'm a military vet, taking NCLEX right now, need a BSN ASAP to go back into the military as an RN... I need to find an RN>BSN program that is all of the following if possible: 1) rolling admission (I need to jump in on short notice) 2) completely online (local clinicals ok) with no more than 1 trip 3) 9-12 months completion 4) clear about grad requirements- no surprised like "now you need to take X to grad" 5) bonus if reasonably priced. (if they aren't straightforward, I won't apply) Do any programs meet all of these criteria?

All schools have the potential to do this to you. It happened to me during my LPN program right before graduation as well as in my BSN program in another state/school system.
I used to believe that you were held to the graduation requirements that were in place at the time you enrolled but I was dead wrong. Most people choose a program at least partly based on it's graduation requirements/curriculum offered, but they can change those requirements and cirriculum at any time.
For the most part SUNY DELHI might meet your match..its the cheapest online program ive seen, its fully online, theres rolling admission and also u can opt for the accelerated option which can be completed in 1 yr. go to www.delhi.edu and u can email (moderator edit of name), shes the Online Enrollment Advisor, she usually replys bac very quickly. Im excited about the school and will begin in September. And another plus is that they recently received accreditation from NLNAC this month.

Chamberlain meets all except for number 5 ... it's pretty pricey. But fabulous!! I'm looking to commission into the Army Nurse Corps after the start of the new fiscal year. :) Feel free to PM me if you have questions about Chamberlain.
Hi,Is anyone in the University of Texas at Arlington online RN-BSN program? I start next month and was just wanting some advice.
Thanks
I'm about to finish this year or early next year ... it's a REAL bricks and mortar school that pumps out more RNs into the Dallas-Fort Worth area than any other school of nursing. They've only been doing the online thing for a couple of years, I believe.
They're about to have a tuition increase (it is a state-funded school), but it still the cheapest I have found out there.

Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences never required that I have Algebra, but they did require me to take a chemistry class. They teach a very doable statistics class in their RN-BSN program.
ISU offeres two options for statistics. I chose the Statistics using excell, and although I had to work REALLY hard, I loved learning the excell software and it is amazing how much ecxel does for you!
