RN to BSN online

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.

One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.

The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.

Online Nursing Degree Programs at Thomas Edison State University

can anyone advise me on which rn to bsn programs are best if you are an international student? so interms of the least amount of hassle getting paperwork done, the least expensive, and not requiring rigorous clinical (or no clinical at all), and also completely online??

im pretty sure this can be done through excelsior but they have the 'all or nothing clinical' so that is out for sure...any information would be very much appreciated. to work in ontario, canada a bsn is now requirement, so need to get this done. thanks.

Howdy to all, after reading this thread, I will be applying to Slippery Rock this week.... (and maybe UoW too) I have been accepted to University of St Francis, and was told that the tuition will run approximately 1000 dollars a class. Thats a LOT to pay after looking at this thread and realizing all of the options I have out there. I will keep you all posted! Ivanna Nurse :D

I am going to a CC now working on the RN degree, but I am going to g back to school and get my BSN. I am trying to take classes that going to count for a BSN. Are there some schools that do not have max of hours that you transfer over to the BSN. I have been looking at schools around Mississippi and I have seen 3 that states that you can only carry over 64 CC hrs.

i just downloaded the catalog from south university and there is a section talking about the clinical requirement . it even goes as far as to say there is more than one clinical. i would love some feed back on this. i have started looking for a online bsn program and am looking for something that does not have a bunch of world culture/religion classes.

south university does not require clinicals. that's not the reason i chose them, but it's a huge perk!

hello. for the rn-bsn program, south does not have any clinicals. i have spoken to a rep, and also had a transcript eval done. however, i like the short 5 week classes, but they are also costly and want far too many extra classes (co-regs) than some other schools i have looked into. have you checked out thomas edison state college (tesc)? they applied every class i have taken at school, they really work with you, to see what you are lacking and are fairly flexible with applying certain classes, and how they would fit in at tesc. they also do not make you take any clinicals, which is also what i am looking for. best of luck to you.

this comes directly from the south catalog that i downloaded from their website. it is on page 117 of the south catalog. i know people go here but all this seems fishy to me. i will look at thomas edison again but i think i have looked at them and they were expensive as well. i think i might just go with utmb in galveston... don't know yet

"clinical requirements

the clinical requirement is interwoven

into each class within the program through

class assignments. the capstone course is

predominately clinical with facilitator

guidance. the criteria for clinical sites are

written by the program coordinator. students

are provided with suggestions for the types

of sites that have been successful in the

past. each student will choose her/his own

sites to complete the learning assignment.

these sites will require prior approval from

the course facilitator. each site will enter into

an agreement with south university, which

states that they know the student is at the

site as a student for south university."

I got to University of Phoenix and like it a lot. The program is about 18 months. You attend new classes every 5 weeks. You can call your advisor and ask for a break anytime. I have taken a week off here and there but it has to be at the end of the class not during. Some even take a month. I looked at many programs and found that the price to attend is not as expensive as I was told by others. The difference...You don't pay for books for each class. Your books are on line and you are charged a lab fee. It costs under 11K a year for everything. Remember..this is University price not Community College price.

I am soooooo frustrated with the UOW. I paid my 40.00 fee for them to evaluate my transcript and give me answers, but have gotten nothing but a hard time. No one will tell me anything. I was told until I get admitted they cannot tell me anything, but that is not what the website says about the 40.00. It is crazy and disjointed at the UOW. Admissions doesn't know what's going on in nursing. Nursing doesn't know what it going on over here. When I did finally get one person to answer 1 question her answer was wrong. My transcript is finally at the school and has been looked at and the nursing school still wont' talk to me until I "get my letter of admittance." Whatever!!!!!! I need to sign up for classes NOW n my town for some prereqs, not on their terms and I need to know what to take. They could tell me if they wanted to.

The UOW needs to get more faculty who are willing to help and that are there to serve the student's needs, not there own. I will not recommend this school if you don't have to go for the $ or other reasons.

If the way the have handled me thus far is any indication of the way their classes are going to be then there is going to be nothing but Hell.:devil:

Sorry for your troubles. Hope this situation gets better. How about sending a copy of your comment to them?

By the way, what does UOW stand for?

UOW is University of Wyoming.

The cheapest brick and mortar University with an on-line RN to BSN program that has been reported on here.

Sad to hear about the problems...sigh.

I attended Deaconess college of nursing and received my ADN form their. It was a very good program, although it was difficult. I am also currently looking at them for getting my BSN.

This is a great site and a really good thread! As my name says, I've been a RN (ADN) for 20+ years. I have decided that I need to get my BSN (I don't know what's come over me). I have been looking at online schools and have narrowed it down to 3. FHCHS, Jacksonville U and Deaconess College of Nursing. I have seen some great things on here about FHCHS and it is the first school I checked into, but I'm not sure. I like that Jackonsville U offers classes in streaming video and in DVD format, but they require a lot more gen ed classes and I don't want to be doing this forever. DCN also requires more gen ed classes, but they seem more interesting and more useful to me as a nurse. I have seen a lot of not so good things about DCN on this site, but I think that has more to do with students that aren't already RNs. Does anyone have first hand experience with any of these schools and if so may I contact you and ask questions. Thank you in advance and it's nice to know that I'm not in this alone.

I attended Deaconess College of Nursing about 17 years ago and got my ADN, but I am now looking to go back for my BSN and it still remains one of my top choices. It is a good school, although hard. It is well worht it. I would like to know which one you choose.
