In preparation for getting a BSN, I am trying to gather information regarding online BSN programs. if you have links to what you feel is an affordable, online, no residency requirement program, please post 'em here.
One program that I came across was at Thomas Edison State College. does anyone have any information regarding their program? I was hoping to find someone that has first hand (or second hand ? ) experience with the TESC RN to BSN program as it seems to be an affordable option, which, of course, is always a bonus. from reading the catalog on their site it appears that you can use some of the EC exams to satisfy the upper-level nursing courses.
The TESC program looks pretty decent but I am looking for some feedback to any online rn to BSN program. if anyone has links to what they feel is an affordable online rn/bsn program please post the link here.
I am finishing my AD in June and am wondering where I can get the Quickest online BSN. I will be starting work in May. I have a BS and Masters in Political Science and a JD (from my previous life) so I probably have all the prequisites and upper level electives. I assume I only need the Nursing courses, but I feel that a school might want me to take extra courses in order to collect more tuition. I am in my late thirties and don't want to take additional classes just to add to the 200 plus hours I already have.
Is there a school out there that can accomodate this odd situation?

You might consider the University of Phoenix RN-MSN program which would allow you to bypass the BSN. I just started and am very pleased with the program so far.
I found SRU by sheer luck, after years of looking at different programs, taking prerequisite classes for Excelsior. I'm enrolled in SRU's program, entering my 2nd semester. Took 9 credits my first semester (I work 20 hrs/wk), very doable. Taking 12 next semester, 6 over the summer and 12 in the fall and I"ll be done! No problems with technology- the first class may overwhelm for the first couple weeks, until you adjust to Blackboard, but then it's a breeze. No time on campus, clinical hours done in your own area. And they are limited. For the Assessment class you need 30 hrs with a CRNP and then a video of you doing a complete H&P submitted with a writeup. For the casemanagement class 42 hrs of clinical with a case manager. The other two clinical reqs are group interaction (you can observe meetings at work) and a community health project that is done with your class online. Good response from instructors when emailed with questions, and they list both office and home numbers on their syllabi so you can reach they when you need to. Worth looking into if you're still searching for a program. One catch- once you enroll at SRU you can't take any classes at a 2 yr college and need permission for other 4 yr schools. Be sure that your liberal arts courses are done prior to enrolling. They do accept Act/pep and Cleps.
as far as the fastest way to get there (assuming you already have a bs), thomas edison college seems to be the best deal around. you need a total of 28 credits in upper division nursing. they accept transfer credits, and you can test out of some credits. of all the programs i've found, i think this is the one for me. very affordable, i might add!!!

Hi JoyzRN, I just finished my first year of a two-year and one semester RN to BSN program and it's going great. I'm 46 years old, and there are quite a bit, if not most us 40 years of age and over.
As far as the computer skills go, basically if you can surf the internet and post here, then you can do online courses. You will need to know how to write papers on Word documents. I taught myself that. One of my classes also had a power point presentation and I taught myself that too.
It's no big deal. You should go for it! I can do it, you can too!
starting in July I believe.....MSN in Nsg ED....I'm in NJ now...pos going to Fla or Cali....my life is totally changing this year, so I'm trying to make the right choices.........This web site is awesome:nurse: You all have been so enlightening!!!!!! And a blessing!

Do you have a link to the TE site with the MSN program info? I am trying to find it but am having no luck.
As far as the St Petersburg program, I have not looked at that one so I can't give an opinion. I will check it out though.
