2017 RN to BSN Online Program UTA Current/past students

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hi!

I was just provisionally acccepted to the University of TX Arlington online RN to BSN program. I start May 22nd. I just wanted to touch base ahead of time with anyone currently in the program or that has taken it already. The old posts on the program seem a bit outdated.

I have taken all pre reqs and only need the nursing courses and also tech writing. I registered for professional nursing and tech writing today.

I was wondering how long it took everyone to complete the program with only the nursing courses? I haven't received feedback on my transcripts yet but I'm hoping everything is accepted considering I took the pre reqs almost 10 years ago when I didn't get into the UTH bsn program and did an ADN program instead.

Also, I read a few posts saying you needed to shadow your nurse manager for one of the courses. I'm a clinical specialist so I don't have a nurse manager really. I travel for work on a weekly basis and work for an aesthetics company so it's not a normal hospital based nursing job. I thought the program was completely online so I'm a little concerned about that.

Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!

Oh wait. tay777, you didn't have to take Statistics over. I hadn't read your following posts. May I ask if the university where you took the class had a semester or quarter system?

For my first 5-weeks attending UTA, which other nursing core class, in addition to Professional Nursing, can I take in order to have a manageable schedule?

Hi I'd like advice from those of you who have completed the program, or most of it. I have been taking one class at a time, but now that I am half way done Id like to try doubling up, but Im not sure which classes I should double up on. So far the classes I have left to take are holistic health, nursing research, management, vulnerable populations, and capstone. Ive been told that I took the easiest classes already and should have doubled up with those, but Id like a second opinion :)

Also I do work full time, but have thought about going part time to finish school sooner.

I wouldn't double up any of those other than holistic health and management. Take the rest one at a time.

Do you still need textbooks? I was just looking through what I have!

I doubled up every single semester and completed the professional classes in 9 months. I also worked full time during school and passed every course mostly with As and some Bs although I think my biggest issue was turning things in on time as opposed to actually having trouble with the content. Overall I didn't think any of the classes were too difficult. The research course was also pretty easy to pass despite all the comments on the message boards about how hard it is. I think they took feedback into consideration and made it more doable. Good luck! I'm applying to my MSN now because I really loved my experience.
