Should I get RN certification in OB or EFM?
I am interested in getting a certification. I have nearly 3 years experience in L&D and did 3 years of couplet care prior to that. I could either get a certification in OB or Electronic fetal monitoring, but not sure how to pick between the two. I appreciate any advice anyone has to offer. thanks in advance.

WHNP DNP Programs
Hi. I've begun my search looking into WHNP DNP programs and was wondering if anyone could provide any insight and/or recommendations. Im looking for something that is mostly online, I don't mind having to travel to campus a few times a year. I live in Texas and it looks like the only program here is at TWU, but their website doesn't have much info and it doesn't look like they have a WHNP-DNP track. What programs have you all done or what programs have you researched? Also, did anyone do travel nursing while working on their NP and/or DNP? What was your experience? Thanks in advance !

how to follow up with possible job opportunity..
Hi Im needing advice on what to do next...So I currently work in couplet care (I've been here two years and it's my only nursing experience) and I've been wanting to transfer to labor and delivery, however it is known that the manager does not hire nurses w/o l&d experience. Well one day I bumped into the manager and told her how interested I was and she asked a few questions and said she was open to hiring someone with my experience, she asked for my number and told me she'd call in a few days...It's now been two weeks since she said she'd call. Last week I got her office number and left a message, but did not hear back from her. I am worried she changed her mind about hiring me, but I assume if she did she would let me know... Im not sure if I should call her again this week, or if I should continue to wait for her to contact me? Thanks in advance.

Thoughts on transferring from couplet care to L&D?
Yes, I have not had many chances to start IVs. I used a lot of critical thinking when I first started, but because mother/baby is so repetitive I feel like I'm not doing it as often as I originally did. I guess Im also worried that the L&D nurses will expect me to have these skills knowing that I am not a new graduate nurse.

Thoughts on transferring from couplet care to L&D?
So I am a couplet care nurse with 3 years experience and I am hoping to transfer to L&D. I told myself after I completed three years on couplet and finished my BSN I would make the transfer, and I've accomplished both goals so now it is time. However I am VERY nervous about the possible transfer, I am nervous about the fact that I am not successful in many nursing skills, such as starting IVs and doing blood draws. I worry that my critical thinking skills are not advanced enough. I also worry about working so closely with doctors (I work nights so majority of my interactions are brief phone conversations). Has anyone been in a similar position? Any advice? Also, what are L&D nurse's thoughts on couplet nurses making the switch, are they usually successful?

The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) RN to BSN - Nursing Research 4325
Hi I'd like advice from those of you who have completed the program, or most of it. I have been taking one class at a time, but now that I am half way done Id like to try doubling up, but Im not sure which classes I should double up on. So far the classes I have left to take are holistic health, nursing research, management, vulnerable populations, and capstone. Ive been told that I took the easiest classes already and should have doubled up with those, but Id like a second opinion. Also I do work full time, but have thought about going part time to finish school sooner.

How to calculate NG tube replacement.
For some reason, this isn't very clear to me. Can someone please help me understand how to calculate? A patient's IV fluid is D51/2 NS with 20 mEq of potassium at 70 ml/hr. Her NG output must be replaced with Lactated Ringer's ml/ml every 4 hours. This means the NG drainage is to be emptied and measured every 4 hours, and that volume will be replaced with LR over the next 4 hours. For example, if the drainage were 60 ml at 10:00, the client would get 15 ml/hr of LR over the next 4 hours.) Thank you!

need help w a short and long term goal
Im a student nurse and Im working on a care-plan for a 4 year old patient who has developmental issues, she is unable to speak or walk. My nanda is Impaired verbal communication R/T developmental delays A-E-B pt did not speak during my shift. Im having trouble developing goals that are "SMART" (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timetable). And the goals in my Nursing Diagnosis Hand Book are not relevant to this patient. I originally came up w "Pt will demonstrate an understanding by the end of my shift", but I know that is not realistic or measurable. If anyone has had experience with this type of patient I would appreciate the help, thank you!

I failed foundations
So I failed my first semester of nursing school, but they're letting retake the class in January. I was wondering if anybody had tips for me to review before I start school again. Are there any good a&p and/or chemistry reviews? I think I didn't do too well because of the nclex style exams, so if anyone has tips for that as well... Also, I did pass my clinical, but my instructor told me I should review meds. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
