2017 RN to BSN Online Program UTA Current/past students

Published

Hi!

I was just provisionally acccepted to the University of TX Arlington online RN to BSN program. I start May 22nd. I just wanted to touch base ahead of time with anyone currently in the program or that has taken it already. The old posts on the program seem a bit outdated.

I have taken all pre reqs and only need the nursing courses and also tech writing. I registered for professional nursing and tech writing today.

I was wondering how long it took everyone to complete the program with only the nursing courses? I haven't received feedback on my transcripts yet but I'm hoping everything is accepted considering I took the pre reqs almost 10 years ago when I didn't get into the UTH bsn program and did an ADN program instead.

Also, I read a few posts saying you needed to shadow your nurse manager for one of the courses. I'm a clinical specialist so I don't have a nurse manager really. I travel for work on a weekly basis and work for an aesthetics company so it's not a normal hospital based nursing job. I thought the program was completely online so I'm a little concerned about that.

Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, I'm just curious how long it took from when you originally applied to UTA to hear back about your acceptance into the online RN-BSN program? I have been accepted into UTA and the mymavs system indicates that all my transcripts have been received, so I'm just waiting. I was expecting to start maybe in the spring 2018, but I see that they have five start dates for the online RN-BSN program. Thanks, and congratulations.

Hi! I heard back the day after I applied so earlier this week, but it was only for the provisional acceptance so I was able to register for classes. I received an email from someone named Rashad who I called and he helped walk me through classes. They've received one of my transcripts but are still waiting on one other one. And then he said they'll do the transcript evaluation. I'm anxious for the evaluation. I just want to make sure all my pre reqs are accepted. He said I may not hear from them until after I start classes. I registered for technical writing and professional nursing and they start on 5/22. I have put this off for years so I really want to start asap. Just hoping there's no surprises once I get the evaluation and degree plan.

I just got an email that all my transcripts have been evaluated and was able to view all my transfer credits, but still no word from the RN-BSN program.

I signed up last year and am currently in my first nursing core class right now. I believe acceptance in the program is very high. I felt they were pretty flexible in applying my past credits to my degree plan. I really didn't have any complaints about it.

That's good to hear! Thank you! How's it going so far? I received a call from someone from the HBU online RN to BSN program and she was saying how they receive their syllabus the first day of class and students are able to get everything done at their own pace. Is the UTA program similarly setup? Or do you have certain due dates for specific assignments?

That's awesome! You should hear from them pretty soon if that's the case. When I spoke to the enrollment specialist he said typically after they do the transcript report they will accept you. I just happened to check the box for provisional acceptance when I applied so I could go ahead and plan to register for classes for summer since it's coming up so quickly. But I'm not officially accepted until they give me a degree plan. After transcript eval, once they accept you, that's when they're supposed to give you your degree plan. Did all your credits get transferred? I just saw they recieved both of my transcripts but still do not see a transcript report so I'm just waiting for that.

I've been happy with the general classes they offer so far. In the professional nursing class the first couple assignments are heavily based on APA formatting. I am currently working on the first paper and I feel like I am wasting too much time just worrying about the formatting rather than the content itself. I will have a better idea how its going after this gets graded.

You do get the syllabus right away and it appears you can work ahead if you desire. There are due dates every week. A discussion post is due by Wednesday night and all other weekly assignments are due Saturday night.

I don't have any general courses left to take besides technical writing so I'll be starting with professional nursing. Dreading APA format. I vaguely remember it. Good luck!

Hi tay! I will finish UTA next semester and I have had such a wonderful experience there! As far as the class that you have to shadow your nurse manager, Leadership and Management...Just explain your situation and they will allow you to shadow any nurse manager in your community, if that cannot be worked out then they will give you another option. So, no worries ;-)

Congrats on finishing soon! Thank you for the feedback! I'm so excited to start!

I got the email! I'm in! I have three history classes to take!? Ugggh!!
