Hello everyone!
I am looking for current, past, and even prospective students for Riverside's RN program. I will be applying for the September 2013 professional nursing program. For current or past students, what was your GPA and teas score? Also how was the program, instructors, clinicals? I did attend the last open house in December and I was hoping that a student or recent grad would be there to talk about their experience. I love how the instructors seem to be really supportive and the small campus also appealed to me. To other prospective students what start date are you applying to and do you have any other nursing/healthcare experience? Any advice or other information on the program is greatly appreciated!
Well the test went better but not as good as i would have hoped but considering the time I had to study I guess my score is about right. I scored a 60% and Lori told me I can retest one more time for January or apply to the LPN program for January because my score is high enough for that. I don't want to do LPN because then ill have to do an LPN to RN bridge then get my BSN but a few schools do have LPN to BSN programs but there so far from where I live. I may retest one more time in a few weeks because either way I can't go until January. What are your thoughts ladies?
Yes! Just go for it and retest for the January 2014 start. If you have a few extra weeks to put in more practice and study your weak areas, your score is going to continue to go up. The minimum score is a 65.8 I believe. Like you said, the LPN route would be longer and I think should be a last resort.

@domjo8- don't be discouraged, all things happen for a reason. I would suggest you go for the LPN. I'm an LPN and have had a VERY successful career as a LPN. I have also made good money as a LPN, so don't think that all LPN's are just pill passers and wound cleaners. Not so, I had to take the long route to achieving my RN but, guess what it's still gonna happen and I feel so much more prepared for nursing school because of the knowledge and experience I have now. Disappointments are an unfortunate part of life but, you have to keep it moving ! Good luck and God bless.
I applied to an LPN program, hope to hear this week if I got in! I have also been told that the LPN to BSN at Sentara is FANTASTIC, and the competition to get in isn't as cutthroat as going straight for the BSN. Also the LPN program at Riverside is awesome too, and you WILL get a job when you graduate! There are so many ways to get to where you want to go! Don't get down! Study and try again.
Thanks so much ladies!! If when I do retest my score still isn't high enough ill go the LPN route. [Moderator edit of name] called me today and asked me what I decided to do I told her I would probably retest then go from there so I will definitely keep y'all updated! Good luck on your test!!
