Riverside School of Health Careers RN program

Published

Hello everyone!

I am looking for current, past, and even prospective students for Riverside's RN program. I will be applying for the September 2013 professional nursing program. For current or past students, what was your GPA and teas score? Also how was the program, instructors, clinicals? I did attend the last open house in December and I was hoping that a student or recent grad would be there to talk about their experience. I love how the instructors seem to be really supportive and the small campus also appealed to me. To other prospective students what start date are you applying to and do you have any other nursing/healthcare experience? Any advice or other information on the program is greatly appreciated!

When it is my turn to apply.... I won't get points for living on that side of the water but I have time to volunteer, and I am doing the shadow program *highly* recommend it, it is awesome! I just hope I get great grades in my A&P1, A&P2 and Micro classes :)[/quote']

Heather, your experience influenced me to put in an application for the shadowing program!

I just know that the majority of the points come from prereqs the TEAS V score, and your interview score. Some are awarded for other things but are not weighted all that much.[/quote']

Oh ok, I get it. I wonder if there is different point value for the pre-reqs based on the grade or do they just give you the same amount of points for each pre-req completed (as long as it is a C or above).

I would assume that it's different points for the different grades, but I don't know for sure...but I'm thinking most likely

Yup grades, he said that someone with all c's but has a ton of volunteer hours, did the shadow program, has a BS in another field, lives in Newport News... still wouldn't have the points to beat an applicant with all A's and no other points. BUT the extra points can bump another all A student over another.

I have had the best time shadowing! I can't wait to shadow again! You get 24 hours and so far I have been allowed 2 blocks of 4 hours, once in the NICU and once in the ED.

This is so nerve wracking. I need distractions!

I know how you feel! I have tons of them and those seconds that I am not distracted, I'm thinking about this process. Especially since I haven't taken the exam or done the interview yet, it leaves me even more worried! Then once I'm waiting to find out whether or not I'm in, I'll be going nuts because I'm waiting.lol

Right?!?? Everyone keeps telling me to stop thinking about it and worrying and I'm just like you don't understand...

That's exactly how I feel too! There all like you'll do great stop worrying but it's nice to have so many people behind you cheering you on!

Yes, a great support system always helps! Good luck with the exam. I'm dropping off my application packet as soon as they open tomorrow. I hope they call me within a couple of days to schedule the TEAS because I'm ready to get it over with! :)

Yay! Good luck with your test! ...they should call pretty quickly. I know they want to get everyone's test and interviews done ASAP. The sooner that gets done, the sooner decisions will be made
