Riverside Community College Spring 2011

Published

Applications were due today for Spring 2011 at RCC. Just wanted to say good luck to all the people that applied with me, and maybe we can keep up with each other as we wait for letters to be sent out!

Thanks, and again good luck. :D

I emailed my "Big Sister" right after InTake Day but haven't had a response at all!

It would be great to have someone (similar in age and life circumstances) to be able to talk with that is experienced in the program already. Do you know if they can match me up with a new "Big Sister" once school actually gets started???...

This happened to me when I was a Nursing 1 student :( My actual sister got in the program too and her Big Sister was great so she adopted me! She has been a HUGE help throughout my first semester.

Feel free to email/facebook me. [email protected].

Thank you soooooooo much! :yeah:

Hey all, is the Calculating Drug Dosages book supposed to be a CDROM and workbook? Or is it an actual textbook? When I enter the ISBN number on Amazon it comes up as a box with a book and disc, is that right? Thanks!

Yes that is the right book.... I never used it. However I took the dosages class during the summer, so by the time the program started, I really didnt need it. I dont think I heard of anyone else using it either... but I would still buy it because it is recommended. :)

I'm trying to determine what kind of bag is needed - backpack, rolling tote, GIANT suitcase? :) For those that have already been in the program, are we normally carrying our books back and forth from school or into the hospitals? Is there a recommendation on what kind of bag works best?

Also, in regards to the discussion on the uniform: go with the sizing chart. It showed that I wore an XS (which I have never worn an XS ever so was thinking that chart was wrong) but I called and spoke to Customer Service -- and glad I did -- because even an XS was slightly big once I got it. The sizes are very funky and leave plenty of room in the hips and waist area so whatever you do, don't order big!

My sister and I (my actual sister... lol) both bought the rolling crate from office max. It worked really great. I was able to fit a cooler with my lunch and a couple books and binders. Towards the end of the semester it started to fall apart, but that was expected considering we hauled it back and forth every day for 4 months. Most other people in the class had a rolling laptop bag, but we got comments from several people saying they should have bought what we had.

You really do bring your books quite a bit, because there is a lot of down time....2 hour lunches.... and you have to get lab hours in so most people will study during that time.

Also, be prepared... the first couple weeks of school seem VERY chaotic. I dont know if you will be in the same room that we were in the first day... but there is NO room and everyone has their "luggage" so it seems a little crazy. If you are feeling overwhelmed and uncertain of things the first couple of weeks just know that this is very normal.... it gets better and you will get used to everything.

My big sister in the program is AMAZING... so I would like to pass on any knowledge I have as well. Feel free to email me as well. [email protected]

They are Cross Trekkers with the slip resistant sole (SafeTStep). I can't find them on the Payless website, so I think they are on clearance. I think I saw some at the Payless in Moreno Valley, the one near the mall. I got mine at the one inside the mall. The number under the barcode is 077371 1631. Hope that helps some :)

I don't know if you were interested in a pair of shape-ups, but I have been seeing the white shape-ups in Ross and Marshalls going for $50. Too much for me, but I know if you want those shoes it is better than paying $90.
