Riverside Community College Spring 2011

Published

Applications were due today for Spring 2011 at RCC. Just wanted to say good luck to all the people that applied with me, and maybe we can keep up with each other as we wait for letters to be sent out!

Thanks, and again good luck. :D

Hey everyone congratulations on getting in to the program! I can't wait to get there. I have a question for

all of you I have been going to RCC part time since 2008 my registration date is Jan 24. I have 39 units my problem is I only

have Anatomy and Physiology 2A and 2B and Microbiology left to complete but I can never get into AMY 2A how did you guys do

it? I am getting frustrated because I can't go on until I get into AMY2A.:crying2: There is already a wait list and I still can't

register for 5 days. I would really appreciate any advice.

Hello,

I am currently in the program at RCC. Second semester... and I have an answer for you! :)

www.integratedscienceprogram.com

www.scuhs.com

It is an accelerated science course. I took Chem, Amy 2a & 2b, and Micro there.

Its ALL day Saturday and Sunday but you will get EACH class done in 4 weeks. So a total of 3 months for you if you have Chem already done.

One draw back, its $2000.00 per class. If you take classes back to back you can get financial aid, otherwise your on your own. I was able to complete ALL of my pre-reqs in one year and got into the program the first try.

The classes are hard (mainly because you are there all day) but soooo worth it. Its in Whittier, so a little bit far, but I live in Perris and it really only took me an hour to get there.

You should check it out, you will get done with your classes quick!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Amanda

Ask Purdy aswell if the coming up semesters still accept ISP bc ive heard talk RCC is going to stop accepting them soon, but its just talk so yes run by it with Steve Purdy

sorry to change the subject, but towards nursing students:

does any one know any information on what chapters we should read to get ahead in class? The 2 1/2 weeks i feel i can do something so the 1st 2 weeks of chaos will be easier

Kevin: I have the reading list that was given out at orientation. I will scan it and send it to you, just pm with your email address.

Sorry to bother again... :D

But I was wondering if those of you who were accepted into the program could tell me when they said they would notify you by, and when you actually found out. They said we will find out by July if we made it in, and I am just curious if I should expect it any sooner than then. TIA!!

They are pretty accurate when they give a date. I would say it is very unlikely to hear back earlier than they estimate, they get very busy and it will take longer if anything.

Good luck getting in! :yeah:

Longer?! Oh no. lol

Thanks!!!

Thanks Amanda, I will look into ISP. Did any of you take AMY-10. I am thinking maybe I could take this to get into Microbiology and also get a head start for AMY2A. What do you guys think? Or would this class be a waste of time?

no i applied once.. and that was it... didnt like the way they select and the "amount" of people they supposedly get every term.... like 1k ... im starting at valley this spring ;)

Hi Coriaa,

When you say Valley what do you mean by that? I am currently at Chaffey and will be applying for the program next spring but I know how difficult it is to get in there and am looking at other options but am having a hard time finding them. Do you have any suggestions??

Coriaa is talking about San Bernardino Valley College. They have a nursing program that I believe still uses a waitlist to determine the next class. You complete all of your prerequisites, apply, and then once you get to the top of the list you are invited.

If where you go to college doesn't matter, I would apply to any and all programs you would consider commuting to. It is very competitive to get into nursing programs right now, you might get accepted to several schools and get to pick the one you like best.

Thank you so much!! I'm wondering if some more obscure colleges would be a better bet to apply to. I know the typical RCC, Mt Sac, VVC, Citrus. Are there any others you can offer up??

If you're looking for a BSN there are CSU campuses and Loma Linda are in the area. Unfortunately the only other ones I can think of are VERY expensive (Kaplan college and West Coast University).

A really good tool for looking up any school is through the California Board of Registered Nursing. They have links to ADN, BSN, MSN, as well as which ones offer RN-BSN programs.

You can look at every approved program in the state by clicking the link. It does denote which ones are private schools, which is nice because not everyone (like me :smokin:) can afford the tuition.

Thank you sooo much for the info! It's exactly what i've been needing to know :). One other thing I have been reading and not really understanding is the 'points'. I have heard some of these programs are based on a point system which I am not familiar with. Any input on that??
