Riverside Community College Nursing Spring 2014

Hello everyone. I just wanted to start the thread for all the new applicants of RCC's Nursing Program for Spring 2014. This thread is to help each other stay current with old and new information about the program. Share your thoughts about the application process, teas V preparation, acceptance, and support group. Let the applications begin!!

Hi BigNurse2014, Yes! That's exactly what I understood. He explained that some applicant periods are more competitive than others, where the cut-off was 70 one period and this last one was 85! He explained, since there's such a high number of applicants, and they're getting more competitive each period, they have to make this "cut-off." I asked him if I scored 90 on my app, is that good? and he assuredly said "Yes! that's good, 85 was the cutoff last app period to be considered for the lottery." I spoke with him in June. So I think he was referring to Fall 13 since they had just finished evaluating who to take into the program. Im so nervous because I don't know what to make of any of this!

yeah i'm nervous also. There's a lot of hearsay going around. Well i'm just going to do my best and if that is not enough then I will have to look for other schools. As for the TEAS V, i'm really nervous about the reading portion of it. I hate the reading part.

The Reading was my WORST section. The passages were longer and the diagrams and informational charts required you to really take your time to compare and analyze (which you won't have time to do ironically). Have you ordered the online assessments? If I could go back and do one thing differently it would be to buy those practice assessments.

I wish you the best of luck!

I wish I could be of more help regarding the reading section :( but I'm sure you'll figure it all out once you get there

let's not lose hope. I've heard people got in with 70pts fall of 2013....

Yeah I agree! lol Oh really 2B is easier? I should had taken it a lot sooner than! :x3:.

Waaay easier!!

Monica A, just curious, what did the specialist mean that 85 was the cut off for Fall's application period? You mean last year's Fall application of for this Spring 2014? And cut off meaning the lowest accepted score was 85points?

Im a bit confused too? I know people who got in last cohort with 75pts. Also I was told by them that 75pts has been the cut off for the last 2 cohorts.

I sure hope the enrollment specialist was just ruffling my feathers cuz thats what he said to me, "85 was the cut off for this last period." He emphasized how the points keep getting closer and closer to 90 and how they have to keep raising the cut off point. But evidently that's not the case as Steph143 points out. I'm terribly sorry if I'm causing any dismay. I'm simply passing along what I've been told.

Oh no totally not your fault!!! They just might be saying to scare the students and make them try harder huh? Cause I know people who got in with 75pts, and one person even got in with 70pts thru lottery.... I would guess they are gaining more popularity, they are really known, and have great nclex passing rates, and job placement rates

I hope they are! Like BigNurse2014 said, lets not lose hope. We all worked too hard. And yes! exactly, RCC is a great school in comparison to many others out there. *keeping fingers crossed for all of us

Monica A, did you speak to -------- or -----------?

Hi guys:) I was also told by ------------ that cut off was 75 points. Plus they choose alternates, which usually always get in. But it really depends on the applicants we are going against. Keeping fingers crossed for all of us. And Monica I they think your good with 85 points, good for you!!
