Riverside Community College Nursing Spring 2014

Published

Hello everyone. I just wanted to start the thread for all the new applicants of RCC's Nursing Program for Spring 2014. This thread is to help each other stay current with old and new information about the program. Share your thoughts about the application process, teas V preparation, acceptance, and support group. Let the applications begin!!

I've applied to Chaffey and SBVC as well. Just out of curiosity, IF I happen to get accepted to another program before I get my letter of denial/acceptance from RCC....what should I do? Thanks, any feedback is greatly appreciated

Hi guys:) I was also told by ------------ that cut off was 75 points. Plus they choose alternates, which usually always get in. But it really depends on the applicants we are going against. Keeping fingers crossed for all of us. And Monica I they think your good with 85 points, good for you!!

Woo hoo! Keeping my fingers crossed and praying for us all !

At SBVC you have to take the HESI exam. I went to orientation and it's really difficult to get in. They are still eliminating their previous wait-list, so a majority of students that get in are off that list. It will be like that every acceptance period until everyone on the wait list is through. She said about only ten students will get in that are not on the wait list. They are looking for at least 3.8 gpa in both science and general ed courses, and good hesi results. Best shot is 90 out of 100 points. They look at repeats in science courses but it don't matter if you've repeated general ed classes. I think once they've cleared out their wait list it will be easier to get in. I've heard it's a good program but they're getting more strict on grades while your in the program. I don't know about Chaffey. I've heard the program is really tough and a lot of students don't make it through ( that could be rumors).

I think we'll find out about Rcc in mid to late December. I'd accept the other offers and then just call and tell them you've changed your mind. Schools have alternate students that will take the place of students that end up changing their minds.

Thanks mindy77! I'll do that if it happens. I guess I'm afraid of having that option of possibly committing to another school before officially knowing how I stand with RCC. I wish we could find out sooner.

i tookthe HESI A2 last Jan and got a 92... Wow RCC chooses alternates now? they don't lottery them anymore. STRESS!! I'm nervous now. :arghh:

does anyone know how many people applied for last semester?

The alternates are if spots open up. Like if somebody turns down their spot or if students don't show for orientation. I think the lottery is during the application process. So it's two different things.

I heard the Hesi is easier then the teas. I think SBVC is trying to change to teas. It makes since. Why should we have to take two different entrance exam for the same program? Like if we don't have enough to stress on!!

I just took the HESI A2 and scored 97. Its waaay easier than the TEAS V. I'll be at 90 with my SBVC app.

wow Monica A, you have a golden ticket at SBVC!! Congrats to you!!!

Thanks BigNurse2014! I'm relieved I have a chance at SBVC, I just REALLY REALLY want to go to RCC :drowning:
