hello to all!! after reading most of the threads here.. just noticed no one used the Prentice Hall's Review and Rationales book (NCLEX-RN).. I guess not a good review material?
I have Saunders (old edition) Comprehensive review book and Kaplan book. I finished this two.. Im thinking to buy other book.. any recommendation if Prentice is not a good material?
Thank you!:):):)

Worst thing to do is to use multiple books, it only causes confusion as the rationales differ significantly. And for Saunder's, if you are planning to write the RN exam, you should be using the 4th edition. There is also a CD that comes with this book and you need to get examples of the newer format questions which are not included with the old edition.
I would focus on only one book and the most two if you wish to have the best chances for passing this exam.
Best of luck to you.

I'm glad you mentioned this... I've picked up multiple books and found the different rationales and strategies to be contradictory and really confusing. My favorite is differing Lab values. You would think there would be some consistency.
This is why I never recommend more than one book, for this very reason. Not enough attention is paid to the rationales and they are actually the most important part of preparing and not just doing as many questions as you can.

For Suzanne,
About this Saunders book, what I have is the 3rd edition.Do you think this is enough for me to pass the NCLEX? Do I really need the 4th edition? at this time I cannot afford to buy another book. That's why I focus only on this 3rd edition.
Hope to hear from you.
Thanks.

4th edition will have new format style questions where the 3rd will not. Sometimes better to buy new book and pass than old book and fail
thank you suzanne4 and silverdragon102 for quick response.. ill buy the new saunders if it will help me to pass the exam.. God bless you both..:nuke::nuke:
You are welcome and good luck

I agree that focusing on one book is enough,, but just make sure that the book is really good..(like saunders) if planning to have another one, maybe just a pathophysiology book.. As it can reinforce and better visualize the disease process. We ought just need to understand the content:nuke: Im also planning to take my nclex..As for my case, I have 3 electronic books which I got from my review,, One is examcram, the other one is mcgraw hill nclex rn by monhan and the last is NCLEX RN by rinehart.. All of this are reviewers focusing on content.. But i'm using saunders 4th edition:nuke: If however, there are complex contents that I didn't understand from that book, thats the time I consult other books..
By the way,, as for the lab values and developmental milestones,, etc. im sticking for saunders.
cheers*

I used Kaplan and NCLEX Exam Prep by Pretice Hall. Had great success, passed NCLEX after being out of school for a year.
