Retrogression Expects To Get Worse Before It Gets Better

its nice to know whats going to happen in the future in order for all of us to plan what we should do.

retrogression expects to get worse before it gets better

the retrogression has gradually gotten worse during the past 21 months. the october 2006 state department visa bulletin reveals that the eb-3 category has now retrogressed almost 4 1/2 years. the backlogs are even greater for persons born in india and mexico. even the eb-2 category for advanced-degreed professionals has backlogged for persons born in india and china. see http://shusterman.com/vb.html

What do you think about that Suzanne? I'm scared... Does it mean that even being in USA on legal statut I will be unable to apply for Adjustment?

Thank you!

exactly. you will not be able to as if there is nothing to adjust to and your current visa whatever it is (b-2?) runs out. you will need to leave. something to think about if you are coming from the affected areas.

I don't think you will be affected, the countries to be affected by the retrogression are Philippines, India and China. These are the counrties where the demand for visas is great that the quota allocated for them yearly is not enough.

as far as i understand, there will be more countries involved this time, not only pic & mexico.

ouch... hope they try something right after the nov. elections.

couldn't hurt to make consular processing more efficient or at least up to par w/ aos while they're at it.

They cannot do anything right after the elections. The entire House of Representatives is up for election plus a sizeable chunk of Congress. Until they are sworn in the during the month of Janaury, you will see what we call a "lame duck" government. Menaing that not much will get done, unless it is a real emergency, and visas for nurses are not high on the list.

All petitions will initially be put on hold as far as accepting them as soon as the visas are no longer current. Then they will slowly open up to those that are not affected by the retrogression. Talk has been that there will be seven countries included this time, a few more besides Mexico and the others that were hit last time/

If you are from Europe and were born there, then you should not be afffected in the long run, but you will be initially. Remember that you need to be in the US for a specified time before a petition can be sumbtted in your behalf, and that is when things open up again.

my suggestions, while waiting for new batch of visas, try to get a visa screen as soon as possible by completing/passing all requirements such as CGFNS or NCLEX exam and English test.

The visa screen is our passport to get a sponsor and a greencard. Once visa becomes available, then you are there, among the first in the line.

Yes, I believe you are right but the IELTS result has a 2 years lifetime and it will expire. Im not sure about the Visascreen Certificate.

Do the visascreen certificate expire?

Do the CGFNS test results expire?

Do the NCLEX test results expire?

Hopefully our visa problem wont last for more than 1 year. :wink2: :wink2:

All the answers re: any service from CGFNS are all included in their respective Handbooks w/c can be viewed from their website.

NCLEX test results do not expire, however, some State BONs w/c do not issue licenses w/o a U.S. SSN, such as CA BRN, have a 3 yr limit for an applicant to give them one and then the applicant's records are destroyed since it may be construed that the applicant has abandoned her willingess to be licensed.

Those State BON that issue licenses w/o a US SSN only have to renew their license like any other license.

Visascreen Certificate

The VisaScreen Certificate is valid only when the official (embossed) ICHP seal is affixed and is valid for 2 years from dateof issue.

CGFNS test result

CGFNS asked for the resolution of whether certificates authorized under the Final Rule expire five years after the date of issuance, or whether they are valid indefinitely if used within five years of the date of issuance. If the certificates do expire, CGFNS also asked for clarification on the standards for renewal including review of the two-year validity rules for the English proficiency scores.

LAWRENCE, thanks for sincerely answering my querries.
