Resurrection University (West Suburban College of Nursing) Spring 2011 applicants

Published

Hi all!

I'm in a process of applying to the Resurrection University (formerly West Suburban College of Nursing) for BSN Spring 2011 program (generic 16 months option). I started this thread to get and give some support along the process. Let's help each other out and maybe get know better before the semester starts! I'm about to start my final (fall) semester at Wilbur Wright College, I already took the TEAS exam, submitted my online application, letters of recommendation and essay. I'm just waiting for my official transcript with summer school grades. I'll be going for the guaranteed admission program. If anyone has questions or just want to share his/hers experiences- please post your comments! GOOD LUCK Y'ALL !! :)

mine too :) It would be nice to get to know you guys before the semester starts so if anyone is interested send me a pm and I'll give you my skype or fb. I think I need a few more posts before I can send messages but I'll get there so I hope to hear from you guys!

Hey Imuens!

I'm working on it, I had to go to the financial aid office and give them my '09 tax return and fill out worksheet. I'm pretty much set, I think I'll get the financial aid award letter in a few weeks.

Did you have to do the FAFSA earlier? I just did it and the website for the gov. said it was too late. If that's the case - I'm screwed! I'm going to call John tomorrow to start up a plan of action.

On FB just search aggie ryan and do the friend request. I'm excited to get into school again, thats not community college! I'm going to triton right now and being in class kills me - I could write a book about it. looking forward to meeting you guys:yeah:

Same here! I'm at Triton too and can't wait to get out of there! I'll look you up ;)

Hey guys! Is anyone else taking the Human Growth & Dev or Information Systems & Computer Apps CLEPs? What study materials are you using? I'm planning to get the REA books and the official CLEP study guide from the library. Just looking for other suggestions.

Hello everyone, congrats for your acceptances, and well wishes to any that were not accepted this time. If you were not accepted, I definitely recommend checking out the city college programs as I felt all of the city college classes I took were quite good (and reasonably priced to boot).

In response to the CLEP exam Q I will be taking the info systems and computer applications exam and am really liking studying from the Research and Education Association book. I bought it from amazon for about $23. It lays out all of the info and I'm just working my way through it. It also comes with a disc that has 2 practice exams.

I sent in my deposit and am trying to get through the health tracker immunization check marks. Trying to round up all of my immunization records from childhood and my retired pediatrician makes it obvious just how much a computerized central health records system would help everyone!

Just a little Q to get to know everyone better: what type of nursing environment/specialty do you hope to work in when you graduate?

My answer: eventually I would like to work in Primary Care (possibly as a FNP) but I would love to start in nephrology/dialysis, GI, or endocrinology.

oh one more thing RE financial aid: As I understand it, grant money probably is indeed no longer available. However, subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford (government/fixed rate) loans and private loans are. I am doing the Stafford and private loan route myself because this is my second B.S.. For anyone else needing private loans I believe I found a pretty good one with Wells Fargo because they offer better rates for students in medical profession programs. Hope that is helpful!

Hey Wookiejm I am in the same situation as you (this is my second B.S). My cosigner did not qualify for the private loans or PLUS, so we are doing out pocket (God is in control). Am also getting my immunization records together am also in the process of doing the background check. Have you picked a date to go register for classes yet?

oh also i would love to work in the surgical department, because i plan on becoming a nurse anesthetist in the future.

Thanks wookie, I am using the REA book as well. I'm also going to use the stafford and private loans b/c it's my second bachelors.

It's awesome that everyone on this thread got accepted :yeah:

p.s. preffered specialty: Neonatal or L&D

Congrats! I'm preparing to apply for the fall. Is there a new student orientation for incoming students?

I'm hoping to do FNP /Research
