Resurrection University (West Suburban College of Nursing) Spring 2011 applicants
I would say- yes. I know a girl who commutes from Lisle, and one of the professors lives near IL/IN border. It's still gonna take you take you about an hour to get to school, but as I said I think it's worth it. It's 16 months vs 24 or 27. You graduate- you're done. I think it's wonderful that you want to better yourself academically for your daughter. Have you thought about their Evening/ Weekend Program? Many girls who are parents are going with this one, it's one semester longer, but it's not as hectic. Good-luck!

yup yup, it's moving to Wicker Park (St. Elizabeth's& Mary Hospital), it's very easy to access via blue line (near North Ave/Damen stop). Where do you live? If you live in Wicker Park/ Ukrainian Village that would be a perfect location. Hope that helps.

Hey Ajryan! When did you email the coordinator? I know that there is a break starting December 16th but the offices are open till Dec. 22nd meaning that secretaries and stuff are at school. I would call the admission counselor Juan Miranda, he seems like he knows what's going on (I always bug him when I have a problem or a question). Do you know how to access and check your schedule from your student account? All of my classes and labs are in there. Good luck to you and have happy holidays as well :)!

yes, definitely! I want to be a nurse for at least 1 or 2 years before even applying to med school. I just want to see if there will be a "chemistry" between me and patients. If not, I will go into research or teaching.

You guys gonna say i'm crazy, but i'm actually planning to be enrolled at ResU and finish all my pre-med classes at my community college (I'm thinking about med school once I'm done with nursing) AND keep my lab assistant job at wilbur wright. I don't know how I'm gonna do it all, but I'm working two jobs and I'm juggling 18 credits this semester and it's working pretty good, I am still able to get some decent sleeping hours. I'm going to ResU today to give them the deposit and sign up for the class registration :) I'm so excited!

hello everyone :) I need to ask you this because I'm a little puzzled. Do we really need a health insurance? Sure, health insurance is not a bad thing, but I moved here three years ago, I'm struggling to pay my way through college and health care insurance will be a big financial burden. What if I'm registered in one of the free community healthcare clinics? Does anyone know if health insurance is mandatory and maybe you know some cheap students- friendly insurance plans? Thanks!

Hey Imuens! I'm working on it, I had to go to the financial aid office and give them my '09 tax return and fill out worksheet. I'm pretty much set, I think I'll get the financial aid award letter in a few weeks.

Vaccinated in Poland and about to begin nursing school
Hello everyone! I moved to US three years ago from Poland and I'm about to start nursing school in January'11. I was so happy when I found out that I've been accepted to the program, but right now I'm really worried because my school requires my immunization card. I have my immunization card (I took it with me when I was leaving Poland), it has list of all the vaccines that I've taken throughout my life. There is one problem- it's in Polish. My question to you is- what should I do about it? I don't even know whom should I ask to translate and officially confirm that I took this vaccines. Also, I don't have health insurance. I go to one of the free community health clinics. Has anyone been in a situation like this? I would greatly appreciate any feedback!

I agree with digitiminimi, most of us know about the negative things people say about ResU. I have my reasons to apply there- 16 months program and the perspective of being hired by Resurrection Healthcare after graduation. That's what matters to me the most. I come from community college, so I'm used to crappy teachers and learning most of the stuff on my own with a pretty good outcomes.
